tank protection
« on: September 10, 2011, 04:52:54 pm »
I'm very interested in picking up the Techspec tank pads for my '11. I thought that I wanted the Mag-Knight, but I think I've changed my mind.

On the Techspec pads there are three options for "finish" and I was wondering which one is the most popular. From what I can see on their website, I'm having touble telling the difference between the "Snake Skin" and the "C3 Grip". The "High Fusion" version looks cool and is different, but it's pretty thin and I wonder how well it works.

Any comments/suggestions?

Wally, I have the C3 and Tech-Spec sent along a key change with what looks like the C3 on one side and the snake skin on the other.  It is the same pattern but the snake skin is deeper and firmer material.  I don't think you can go wrong with either.

So nobody has any experience with the Fusion Grip? I like how it looks, but it's thin.

I had the Mag-Knight on my bike. I liked it a lot. Mine was color matched and you normally couldn't tell it was on the bike. It worked very good at protecting the tank. It was very easy to peel back to clean or dry any moisture. I used it for the three years I had the bike and it protected well. Although it did develop a slight crack from my peeling the top back to check for dirt and moisture too much. (way more than I need to!) It's stuck to my tool box now!  :))

I had the Fusion on my 05 zzr1200 and really liked it.  Very thin, gripped very well.  I wasn't impressed with the looks of the product until I installed them on the bike and then I thought it looked great.
