Top Block tip over protection
« on: May 07, 2011, 12:03:02 pm »
I've installed the Top Block French made tip over protection and put a photo gallery on line. You can see it here:

http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/topblock

Its not cheap, but it fits in with the look of the bike very nicely. This is the same company that made the Kawasaki tip over protector accessory that was sold in Europe. You'll notice it's changed a little to accommodate the 2010 bike. It does require you to drill a 1 inch hole in your lower black fairing panel.

Looks nice.  Also looks like it might double as a foot resting place (sans pegs).  Can it?  Thx.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Yes they make a version for the 2008/09 as well, but it looks slightly different (actually I think it looks better).

Their web site is here:

http://www.top-block.com/

The best way to contact them is to email Tatiana. Her email address is commercial@top-block.com

The cost of them is 393€, which currently works out to about $560 US dollars. Shipping will vary by location, but I'd plan for about $30 or $40. They currently don't have a US distributor, so processing the transaction requires sending a wire transfer to them. Shipping took about 7 days from France.

I'm supposed to be getting some competing tip over protection from R&G and I'd also like to get a set of the GSG sliders as well some that one of our COG guys is developing so I can do some comparisons of them, but so far these are the only ones that I've received.

Hey Fred, I finally made it over to this forum, I'm glad to see that you did get these and that Tatiana treated you well!  ;D

For the others on this thread asking about the 08/09 ones, here's some pics on mine.

Hey ZG....

Do those hinder you in putting oil in? Looks like they run right over the cap?

It may just be an optical illusion. It looks like a funnel would solve this problem, if there was a problem. I use a funnel anyway to protect against spillage.

Nope, no problem at all Jim, do need to use a funnel though.

I think part of what you're seeing in the pic is just shadow, optical illusion as the Cap'n said...

I'm interested in the Top Block tip over protection, but the company is not interested in doing business?

I sent to the email to the address in this thread and referenced Tatiana.  In the past two weeks, I sent 3 emails  from two different email accounts.  I also filled out their contact on-line form (in French).  I verified that their server received my email messages (I'm a network administrator).  No reply.  >:(  Does anybody have any advice on how to purchase their product?

4B,
If you're short on time you could always go with the Kawi UK ones that are made by Top Block, same exact slider but has the Kawi name on it. These guys at the link below will sell to you and ship to the US. Keep us posted, good luck bro!  :beerchug:

Hey ZG,
Thanks for that tip.  Didn't know about that one.  Your bike looks great, and the Top-Block adds to the cool factor. It's Farkle with a purpose.

No joy on the UK Kwak dealer.  The Top-Block version they sell is only for the 2008-2009.  I need the 2011 version which is listed on the Top-Block.com web site.  Any advice about other resellers is appreciated.

I thought Top Block sold a 2010 version, which would be the same as 2011.

Fred's pics above are on a 2010.

Sounds like your best option is just waiting and connecting with Tatiana 4B...  :-[

"Unobtanium" is always best after a long wait, just think how excited you'll be when you finally do get em!  :)

Connecting with Tatiana?  What bar does she hang out at, and how much is the air fare to France?  Now that I'm convinced I need them, I'm paranoid about dropping the bike before they are on!

I received an email from Tatiana saying Andrew Cookson contacted her through their website and left an email address, but she is unable to get a response from them. Andrew, if you're out there, give me a shout.

I like those, kinda like an ST-wing. I think I'll be checking into a set.
