two videos using my new GoPros
« on: August 30, 2011, 05:21:05 pm »
Just got two GoPro cameras for my girlfriend and myself.  Since she commutes by train, I get to use both cameras.  This morning, was my first bike ride with the cameras.  I mounted one on the front fender and one on my right saddle bag.  My commute is 45 minutes.  It sucks for 44 1/2 minutes.  There is one spot where I get to have a little fun.

Video had music, but YouTube stripped it since I did not pay a licensing fee to Missy Elliot.

That being said, I spent about 4 hours putting this one together.  It is all back roads, shot on two cameras, edited with music and fades and credits and all that stuff.

Hope you like.

Nice vid.  UTube probably would not have removed the audio if you had shown credit for the artist at the end.
Use windows movie maker to add titles and crdits.
Don't want to put a damper on this, but those jeans will last about 2 nano-seconds on that pavement at 85 MPH.
Well...even if you fall on your face you're still moving forward.

Good tip for MovieMaker.  Thanks.

No damper.  When I am a gittin it, I wear my riding pants as well as the jacket and gloves.  While the speed in that corner is pretty good, it actually is within a good safety margin for me.  But point taken.

Cool video but I think I would be worried about that one squirrel which is indecisive. <<Maybe I am just too old>>

You know,  that squirrel that attempts to cross the road but changes his mind three or four times right in front of you.

We have this attack deer by my house with a very nice rack. It has been pretty consistent about "greeting" me each morning about 4am in the same spot where I could be going 55 but now I have to watch for him.

Just saying twisty tree covered roads are certainly beautiful and fun but I would be concerned about animals on the street. Again, maybe I am just too old.

I've got hunting license,
I've got a couple of choices of weapons,
I've got ammo for each of them,
But it is BOW season.       :16:
And I live in a county where when gun season opens, it looks like we have been invaded,     :violent-smiley-007:
But I run DEER WHISTLES all the time, both on road and off road.  Not had one in my way for 15+ years, but seen plenty nearby.     8)
They just raise their head, look at me, and then go back to grazing or just walk away.  I still slow way down, just in case.

Meh, we all have different levels of risk we are willing to accept.

As for a squirrel, they are "squishables", anything under dog size just gets run over.

Anything over dog size gets hit after I straighten the bike out, if I can not avoid.

I ride fairly aggressively, but well within my margin for surprise and error.

YMMV
