I have had them on every bike including the 2012 Connie. Big difference in handling because you can grip the tank with the legs without scratching the paint and better GRIP. I also put it on every spot availabe because it protects from scuffs on the bags, etc. It definitely changes the look of the bike...
Some may say it's ugly but it is very functional.

I am a fan for life on the TechSpec heavy rubberized version, yes they are expensive but paint cost would be more...

So... just to follow up on this thread, and for a data point for anyone searching in the future, I have installed the TechSpecs, and they are really great.  Been a bit cold, about 50 degrees in the garage, but sunny outside, so I let the TechSpecs sit in the sun for a while to warm up.  Took a blow dryer to the surfaces of the bike that were going to mate up to the TS.  Install went great.  I think they look really good.  Went for a couple hour ride today and enjoyed having them installed.  Much nicer feeling than the smooth/slippery tank.  Definitely pleased with the looks and performance.

A few pics...

I've been thinking about buying these for a while now. A friend of mine had a set on his Honda F6B and they are very good quality. I just placed an order with Revzilla and keeping my fingers crossed that
they'll be here in time for Daytona Bike Week!

To those with adhesive issues I suggest wiping the wax off the areas. It helps a lot. A little Dawn and water or any mild de-greaser will work for maximum stiction.

I otherwise only recommend Dawn or degreasers before a waxing. It's just for purposely removing wax and oils, etc....

Been through two sets of these pads and have been impressed with the adhesive...but every package can't be equal. Maybe this will help someone....
