I ordered my seat and back rest from Seth and I like it a lot. I sent my seat to me in a timely fashion but he didn't send the backrest. I call, and I call, and I call and nothing. I email, I do his contact page. Nothing.2 weeks later I call and he actually picks up the phone. Tells me he was waiting on zippers and they should be in tomorrow. I say great and leave it at that. A week goes by and nothing on the porch. So I call and call and call and nothing. Finally get hold of him and he apologies that he forgot about my backrest. A few days later it arrives in the mail.

I took about a month after the seat for my back rest to arrive.

It says on his website that he'll do free adjustments to the seat. I don't dare send it back to him because God knows when and if I'll ever get it back.

So bottom line, yes, great product, but some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced.   :(

One day a couple of years ago, I was traveling on my C10 from Iowa to Florida and felt the need to find something different to place under my butt due to it's painful state of things.  Pulled into a Walmart in Nashville and came out with an ATV gel gel seat for about $25 and after a quick cut down to the approximate size of my seat off I went and much to my amazement, the rest of the ride was relatively pain-free.  I still have the Wally World gel seat and it's my secret weapon on long trips.

Finally got back in touch with Seth. He appologized for the delay but said he has been extremely busy and had not yet been able to start on my seat.  >:(  Supposed to hear back from him again today to pin down an exact start date so we will see if that happens. He seems to be rather disorganized, I could hear him on the phone moving things around and shuffling papers to find my order. I think if he had an office assistant, it would make a world of difference. The added cost would be ofset by gaining additional customers.  :beerchug: btw once I get the Laam seat I will be selling my non heated Corbin to anyone that's interested.  ;D

Did you send him a seat to modify? Mine is scheduled to arrive at his place tomorrow and he thought it would take him a few days to complete and ship back.

I sent my seat to Seth and he received it on Saturday. I spoke with him on the phone this morning and he is going to put my seat into production today. He said it should be completed by morning tomorrow and will be shipped out ASAP And I can expect it to be back at my house next Monday. His turn-around time is very quick!
Shipping from FL to CA and then back is the biggest time factor here.
From our conversation we had, this seat is going to be custom made to fit my dimensions. I'm quite excited!

Seth received my seat last Wednesday/Thursday. I talked with him this morning as my seat was the first of the day to be built :great:!

He finished it today and it's on it's way back  :). I Went with the carbon vinyl and titanium stitching after talking with Seth and looking at his Facebook page pictures. Looking forward to getting it soon as I've been without a seat for 2 weekends now and up here in northern Ohio that's an eternity with our short riding season!

I had Seth build my seat and 4500 miles later I still get monkey butt'.
He told me if its not working for me to call him and he will re-do it.
Like the rest of you I cant contact him so mid October I have a ride in
appointment at Russell. I Know I will spend more but his seat has
limited my riding.

Like anyone else all I can do is recount my experience with Seth Laam. I texted him about 3 weeks ago and about three days later he called me asking what I was looking for in a new seat. I told him and we agreed to meet last weekend for an appointment. Lets just say that stock seats are just that, Stock. Run of the mill mass produced parts made to be used by anyone. Well I left LA on Friday getting into Redding that knight and was in physical pain from that seat when I got to the hotel. Met Seth at the appointed time and he began the process of building my seat. This next statement you may not believe but I let his shop at 11:00am Sat. and got home east of LA at about 8:30 pm a little over 600 miles stopping only for a sandwich and fuel stops. When I got home I literally felt as though I could go another couple of hundred miles more. I think he hit the mark on my seat and if I had to have another seat made at some point he is where I will be going. Enough said.

This has convinced me to not try to get a seat from him. When he is on planet earth, lots of kudos. When he is orbiting around an unknown planet, lots of frustration.

As good as his seats seem to be with satisfied owners, I'm scratching his name off my list. I wanted to get a new seat before I leave for the Canadian border the week after Labor Day, can't trust his inconsistent contact reputation.

Dan
Then don't.  You might be happier with an off the shelf seat from Corbin or Sargent anyway.

Things seemed to have changed a lot since I wrote that. It looks like he is much more attentive to customers (and potential customers) now, many positive reports of interacting with Seth. Also, many reports of happy owners.

I'll give him a try.

But to point out, most people who have been happy with him lately live locally to him.  Ride in and talking to him is just not possible, or feasible for most of us.  He seems attentive to the locals.   That doesn't do anything for us not in or near California.

  Hi,
Well...Uh,I live in central Florida! I talked to Seth he told me how to pack the seat to send him, that would save me money in shipping. Which it did,I sent the seat, called Seth again to confirm what he was going to do. This was Custom as I am big and tall. Everything ironed out and less than a week and had my seat back on the bike! Probably 11 or 12 days start to finish! :great:

My story is almost identical to seagiant's. I love in South Florida and From the time I shipped my seat until it was returned was 14 days. This is calendar day not business days. Rather impressive IMO.

I'm in Maryland. Out and back in 5 days to/from Seth! I paid for overnite shipping on Mon. He reworked it on Wed, sent it out overnite on Thurs. I had it Fri!
Only cost about 60$ more total.
