Where can I legally obtain a service manual for a 2012 Connie!?
« on: December 22, 2012, 06:45:12 pm »
I have tried some of the links around this site and always end up in a blind or non-functional link. The other things I have found seem questionable at best. Any help would be appreciated.

Ron Ayers.... http://www.ronayers.com/Search/N/687 :)

Which takes me to the search page where I have entered every conceivable iteration of input and come up empty. As well as looking through ALL of the Books/Manuals section.

This is making me INSANE! What the hell am I missing?!?!?

Captain,  I've run into the same "lost leader" even amazon is playing that game. I found a few but the web site was questionable or wanted $80 +. One of my search results showed amazon had Kawasaki part 99924-1431-03 that l was looking for but when I went to the link amazon never heard of it. Still looking, if l find a source I'll pass it on.

Hopefully this won't be a dumb question. But have you tried to order one from your dealer?

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Dealer?!?!!?  Bah!

Actually, based on my previous experiences with getting manuals from dealers and from some things I had read on this forum (hefty price gouging) I hadn't even considered trying that.

So, not a dumb question by any means. I just inherently don't trust dealers.

-Edited-

$94 at the dealer.

Ouch, $94. But it's still much cheaper than paying the dealer one time to do something you could do yourself. Although that does seem kind of pricey, I would still probably bite the bullet and get it. But that's just me.

I just did a quick search on the part number.  I do not know if these are in stock. But here are some that came up on a search if you do not want to pay a little extra to the dealer. Of course I am not sure how much I would trust some on line deals. One thing for sure is that you know you will get an OEM Kawasaki manual from the dealer or places like Ron Ayers.

Ron Ayers lists it for $82.63    http://www.ronayers.com/ProductDetails/N/687/SKU/1773026

Cheap cycle parts lists it for $85.01   http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/products/773953-kawasaki-99924-1431-03-hard-parts-s-m-zg1400c

Gear head list it for $76.24  http://www.gearhead.com/oem-99924-1431-03.html#/s/KUS//99924-1431-03/1

Powersportsplus lists it for $82.63   http://www.powersportsplus.com/parts/detail/kawasaki/KP-99924-1431-03.html

2 wheels pro lists it for $83.94   http://www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/kawasaki-s-m-zg1400c-99924-1431-03-part.html

The one from manual wizard is 2" thick, well bound with plastic protectors. The print is on the light side toner wise, and the pictures suffer somewhat.

:great: captain, devil boy got it right. Manual wizard has the best price $30.00 +sh. Capt-n-bob i went to the dealer first and choked on the price. I deal with Barnies in Brandon Fl and they are the best dealership I've encountered and often will match or beat a price but not on manuals. Can't blame them since the service dept is a big part of their bottom line.

For what it's worth. The Manual Wizard sounds like a copy of an OEM manual. That would be considered copyright infringement. Which we do not condone in COG. Sorry but this being the case I need to remove them from my posting. Folks looking for such items can find them as simple as a search on the part number, like I did.

I'm new to this forum and the bike.  Just picked up a black used 2012 model with ABS and Traction control for a steal with only 10k miles on her.  Since picking it up I've been looking all over for a manual seeing any work on this bike will be significantly more involved than my last bike a cruiser with a carb (yes they still make those things).  This seems like the best price I've seen so far especially after checking with the stealer in my area.  Hopefully this forum is good when it comes to needing help or questions answered

If it's a CD or a rescan of any sort, it's COPYRIGHT infringement!!!!

I fell into the Manual Wizard trap thinking I was getting an actual service manual.  It's a COPY!!!

I will NEVER buy anything more from Manual Wizard based on this.

$42 shipped from Manual Wizard. Got it 2 days after I ordered it. They appear to have rectified the toner/pics issues because it is dark, clear, and the pics look as good as I would expect from the original. Very satisfied and 600 mile service is completed.

Onward. Now, if I could just get that Caribou top case mounted... >:D

Cap'n Bob...

I believe you are correct. I didn't know this when I bought it. I just assumed since they were advertising, they were legit.

I won't be sending it back, however. That's $42 I'll never see again, so..........live and learn.

And FWIW it's worth, when I started this thread, I specified that I was seeking to obtain a LEGAL manual. Therefore, I assumed again that any responses to my query would take that into account and provide legal sources.

My bad. :-[

Is this what you guys are looking for? It's an online .pdf version of the owner's manual.

http://www.kawasaki-techinfo.net/showOM.php?view_lang=EN&spec=US&book_no=99987-1608&lang_code=EN

I'm thinking this might be different than the service manual that you guys are looking for but I was hoping the owners manual might help also.
