2005 Remnants - Free for the taking
« on: July 20, 2017, 12:53:43 am »
The remainder of my 2005 Connie are available for anyone who would like to pick her over.
Bike was a solid runner, with no issues until the fateful day in Sept last year.
Remaining items, and my assessment of condition, on her include:
- Swingarm: Good shape. Bearings felt smooth.
- Driveshaft
- Rear shock & Rear Links: No leaks, lubed regularly
- Rear subframe
- Lower engine, clutch, & tranny. All worked smoothly. clutch fluid changed several time, so should be in very good shape. Head still attached, but broken upper left motor mount.
- Complete front forks. Not sure if tubes are straight. Oil changed at least twice. Seals not leaking.
- Frame, bent.
- Header pipes, very little corrosion.
- Radiator, no leaks, but dented in crash.
See photos for contents.
Free for the taking, but take all or nothing. Want it out (so does Irene!!)

I need the temp gauge (one right above the carbs). I got a little frisky installing my carbs last time, and broke the riveted tab off. I wrapped and tapped wire around the pin for now, and it seems to be working, but eventually, I'd like to fix it correctly. I'll paypal you $$.

hi Mike,
Final Drive is in great shape, and is already removed from the carcass.
I changed the oil regularly, using good quality synthetic gear oil. The spline was lubed well with marine spline grease at each tire change (I figured if marine spline grease works for 300hp+ engines, it should work on the Connie, and it provides good corrosion protection to boot!).
The attached photos show its condition. I don't think there is any wear on the splines, only a slight polishing from the wheel's mating spline.

How does $40+shipping sound?

OK... bumping this to give one more chance in case there is a taker out there.
Good engine bottom end, and other components.
Will go to junkyard, or recycling, or ??? in about a week. If anyone is interested, let me know.

You said the motor was good, but the upper motor mount was broken?
As I recall, that motor mount is part of the head......

Sooooo, someone with a hydrolocked Connie could use the engine, install their head on it,, and be back on the road...

Anyone out there have a hydrolocked Connie?     hint hint!!!!

Ride safe, Ted

Correct Mr. Ted (you like the formality?   don't get used to it :)

Yes, head is scrap aluminum; bottom end and tranny are (were?) in perfect working condition.
