Why, when those of us on the West Coast click on "Today's active   discussions" after about 9 or 10 pm (not sure which), does it say that   there are "No Active Discussions Today" (or whatever the wording is)   and the list is completely empty?      If I then go to "Discussions since your last visit," it is also often blank   after 9 or 10 pm.  You can't tell me that if it is a day or two since my   last visit, that no one has made a post.    I know this forum is on East Coast time, but bear in mind that some   of us out here go to bed 3 hours later than you do back there, 6   hours in Hawaii, and I have no clue about Alaska.

AS far as I can tell, the COGMOS system is set to be on left coast time. This post was made at 8:22 EST, so lets see what it gets posted at.    Not sure what is happening. Do you allow cookies? They are needed to allow the web system to know the last time you checked posts.     edit: it seems the time is off by 1 hour, and the Daylight savings was turned on... I wonder if the time is correct now?    --  COG Forum Admin

Left coast time?  You mean Pacific time?    You say you posted at 8:22 am EST.  On mine, it shows that you posted   at 5:23 am.  One of those is "right coast time."    Let's see, my computer says 9:50 AM PT, what time will it post?

Yes, Pacific Time     Note how the time you said you posted tracks to the system time, while the admin post is 3 hours off.    I posted/edited this at 4:27pm EST    --  Steve Smith, COG #3184  (somewhere in south central CT)     If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

There is more to be gained by members raising hands saying "I'll do that" instead of pointing fingers saying "nobody's doing that."

I was also having problems with the no new posts thing.  Somehow I was was being logged off.  You have to be logged in for the new post thing to work.  Roger ('07 Wee Strom)  COG 5903  Virginia Beach, VA

Yes Roger...  A few things I found that had me in a "not logged in" condition.  1) Forgetting to check the "remember me" box when I log in with username & password. If the box is not checked the system will time you out in 20 minutes. 2) Sometimes direct linking to the forum causes it. If I do not see the Welcome message with my name on the forum home screen I know I am not logged in properly. 3) Not having cookies allowed.    --  Steve Smith, COG #3184  (somewhere in south central CT)     If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
