I do not believe it is an allowable feature of this forum software. I found this statement on the SMF community forum regarding embedded iframes...

Allowing users to use html in posts would pose a massive security risk to your site and the server, so it isn't permitted in any forum software.

Let's see what the COG IT officer has to say.

There is more to be gained by members raising hands saying "I'll do that" instead of pointing fingers saying "nobody's doing that."

I used to run an SMF Forum myself years ago.  I'd be surprised if it was not a package feature addon by now.

While iframe capability would be great for things like posting maps (google maps, etc.) and tracking systems (like spotwalla)  it opens up a window that can't be controlled which would allow things like ads, outside tracking and logging, phishing, embeds (of social media feeds and worse) and an unlimited number of other things that fall on a scale from annoying to dangerous.

Webmaster control of iframe's is one thing, membership wide or general public control or access is another.

There might be an SMF addon that allows embedding google maps somewhere though.

Yeah understand.  Maybe it can be limited to google.com links only.

You could always screenshot the map and stick the the picture in your photobucket then post it.
