Teeny Tine avatars, but no limit in signatures
« on: April 30, 2012, 07:56:16 pm »
Why is it that avatars are restricted to 100x100 pixels, but people can link much larger pics in their signature. Can't we open up the avatar a bit more so you can see what the pic is?

I suspect it is mostly a storage thing. Linked images are stored elsewhere than on the forum server. Avatars are most often uploaded and stored on the forum server. I suppose changing it is up for discussion by the admins.

There is more to be gained by members raising hands saying "I'll do that" instead of pointing fingers saying "nobody's doing that."

As it is Steve, I get a broken link to your Avatar, maybe that's what you want. ;)

My avatar is on this server.  I see it. It is animated. Anyone else not see it?

I'm acutally not asking for much, looks like all pics are shrunk or restricted to 65x65 pixels. I think 100x100 would be ideal.

I figured it was just my eyes growing old, but they really are small.  I'd say 120x120 wouldn't strain anyone's connection too much.  Then we could actually see what the heck those little colored things are.

Yes but now Steve's picture is so big you can tell it actually does look like him.  That is just scary now.

Especially the eyes!  ;)

Now of course I have to make a larger version of my avatar... NOT a problem!  :)

Actually I am a fan of the small avitars on the side,  I've been on forums where they don't restrict and it makes it difficult to read IMHO (big mess on the side messes with layout etc)
You only need two tools in life – WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn’t move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn’t move and does, use the duct tape.

I wish the avatars could be like all other pics and be clicked on to see larger if desired, that would be the best of both worlds.
