I don't know who turned that on, or why. We have a case of too many cooks spoil the broth.

    Bingo !!

From what I gather for the last 6 to 9 months it's been limiting you to only being able to edit posts that are 5 days, and since the upgrade it was set to 24 hrs, I just reset it back to 5 days.

Sorry, I should have phrased that better.
it used to be unlimited, but then 6 or 9 months ago it was changed to 5 days.

and as far as emojii for this post... this should work  :sign0144: (here being the Admin area)

So its been set that way for 6-9 months, I know I did not set it and it would seem Willy did not do it so it leaves only a few admin with the permissions to do it. Rev Rider has been marking the threads in the emporium as sold at the sellers request and it has worked well. The issue was posters wanting to reopen threads that were sold but fell through or some other reason. Then they want it moved back to the top, Rev's feeling was to wait till the seller reports the item sold. Saving the threads helps others get an idea of what things are going for. If the thread is emptied out later its of no use to anyone.

Well that pretty much seals the deal for me.   :'(   I'm out of here. (I know I won't be missed and that's OK.)
I had already pretty much decided that I didn't want to post much here anymore, but I checked in because of my AAD duties.
Now I can't even modify my own post about a COG event that I'm hosting to correct something. Way out of step with
most forums (not just motorcycle forums).

Bye.  :s_bye2:

I guess I don't know what to say about this. The system change took place 6 to 9 months ago, and I don't understand why is it all the sudden an issue.

Looks to me like you were looking for a reason to take your ball and go home, and this is the reason you chose.

Regardless of the reason, I'm sorry to see you go.  :(

Are we trying to build up patronage for the zggtr forum or what? Is it really that important to have an iron fist lock down here?

Wow sorry I started this. I just wanted to see if it was me ? My guess as to why someone did not say something before is because they probably  thought (just like me) that it was something on their end and did not want to take the time to figure it out.
I used the edit function the same way as Farty.  On other forums, and before, on this forum, it was nice to use the first post of an event to post updates, that way folks don't have to scroll through every page to see if something has changed. Seems like that is a pretty valuable function that has now gone away.

I know everyone moderating and working on the forum is doing their best and I appreciate all the work.

So saving posts in the Emporioum so we all can benefit is a bad thing how? Its 5 days to edit, a simple note to a moderator could have anything edited if needed.

+10

I'm not going to stop visiting this forum because I cannot edit my posts, but it would be nice to have this functionality back.

Because it is a PIA for both original poster and the moderator.

"Excuse me Mike, but in my original post on 7/4/2014 could you remove thes three .jpg images and the text along with them because they are spoken for, please reduce the price of said RAM mount to $4, and then say thank you to Marv and Alice for their kind words about the purchase of the plush Baldwin seat that I was so nice to forfeit to them."

Ok, the last one probably deserves an additional post, but I am trying to make a point. Seriously though, why should this forum work different than others?

We should be able to edit our own posts, after all this is America, we can say what we want and then the next day change our mind.  ;D

For reals though, please change it back to what it was and always was, unless there is a good reason for not, and in that case please tell us what that good reason is.

Thanks mods!  :beerchug:

You can change your mind the next day but not next week.  Looks like you're stuck with black/red/green...no new colors for you.  ;)

Or if you do change your mind, you can add a new post in the thread, or create a new thread. What you can't do is edit an old post that says you are going to paint your bike green, and change it to say you are painting it fuchsia. (:o I hope I didn't just give you an idea... )
