Help with the COG calendar
« on: June 08, 2017, 10:01:29 am »
When I go to the COG calendar I log in and it goes to the SE region which I am in.

I try to go to the NE region and look at the Dog Days rally, but when I click on the NE region the page refreshes to the SE region again and I can't access the NE.

If I log out, and go to calendar of events I can access the NE region and the Dog Days registration page, when I try to see who has registered, it ask me to log in, and when I do it takes me right back to the SE region again.  >:(

Any ideas?   Thanks

I decided to delete cookies for cog-online and when I did I was able to access the list.

Well crap, when I go back now it keeps taking me back to the SE region   :-[

Just tried it and was able to switch to other area calendars. However, it did not work the first time I tried.  Try the selection a few times after clearing cookies and cache.

Hindsight is 20/20. The next online system the club is exploring will allow all club events color coded by area on a single calendar.

There is more to be gained by members raising hands saying "I'll do that" instead of pointing fingers saying "nobody's doing that."

Jerry, I think the system is telling you to stay in the SE region....(It does that to me occasionally, too)..  ;D

Try logging out and then clearing the cookies in your browser before logging back in. Maybe a re-start would help? Just guessing there.

Well, I just tried from my Mac with three different browsers. I normally use Chrome.

1. Chrome (regular): Switched me to North Central when I selected Northeast. Would not switch me to any other area, including my home in Southeast.

2. Chrome (incognito window): Same.

3. Firefox (regular): Same.

4. Firefox (private window): Same.

5. Safari (regular): Worked correctly.

Ron, when I cleared cookies it worked for 1 time, then after that it continues to send me back to the SE.  I guess it won't let me defect   :D

I will be going to the Dog Days rally instead of the SE rally  :o    I have ridden the roads around Ironhorse so much I am tired of them.  The roads around Staunton are a great change.  This will be my 5th Dog Days and I was sorry to see the SE scheduled one the same weekend.

I hope that doesn't get me fired   :-\

I don't use anything but firefox, so if I need to access another region I will just clear the cookies.  When I did clear them, it let me register in the NE and then view the list of attendees, but when I closed the screen and then went back to the calendar, it keeps me in the SE.

Try going to the List Calendar
http://www.cog-online.org/clubportal/ClubStatic.cfm?clubID=1328&pubmenuoptID=46796

(you can also find it by clicking the 2017 Event List in the mini-calendar at the top of the forum)

By selecting the event you want from there, if bypasses the site's grid calendar (Memberize) and the need to select a region or month. Clicking on the desired event should take you straight to the Dog Days information and registration.

the COG gods have determined that cross-contamination of members from different regions would result in GRAVE consequences.  therefore, you should NEVER leave your region.  Woe to all those who are on their way to the national.  I would not want to be them!!!!

 :))

Mine is working the same was as others.  if my memory serves me correctly, this is a new "feature".  I think I was poking around the calendar last week and it was working then.

if you get anything other than that (SE regional grid calendar, COG Home page, TMZ...), well that indicates a bigger problem.

The link in the 2017 Event List calendar points straight to the Dog Days registration - if it didn't take you there, Memberize (COG site) is high-jacking you.

I got bigger problems then, when I click the link I go to the DD sign up page but when I click on the attendees, it takes me right back to the SE calendar.  When I deleted all cookies for cog I was able to go and register so at least I am on the roster.

Just did the same thing to me.  I can go to the page when logged in or not but when I hit to see the registrants it takes me to my home SC calendar.

Oh.  Thought you were just trying to see registration page/register.

The whole "look at the attendees" thing is just jacked-up, for everyone. If you are on the reg page and click the "Attendees" hyperlink - 90% chance it won't work and you'll be launched into cyberheck. This is a Memberize (the engine behind the COG website) problem and can't be fixed by COG IT (except for leaving Memberize :-)

What has worked for me once in a while, to look at the "attendee" hyperlink:

Log out of COG (Memberize) on the COG website (do it from the site not the forum [but it will log you out of the forum too])

Go to the dog days link
http://www.cog-online.org/ClubPortal/EventDisplayNew.cfm?clubID=1328&eventID=240563
(make sure there is no https:// only http:)
the registration page may come up even logged out.

Then click on the "Attendees" hyperlink (still logged out if possible)

Only log in if specifically requested

If it shows you the attendees or makes you log in and shows you the attendees - Tada

If it doesn't work, try it ten mores times to get super frustrated, or contact the ride leader listed on the registration page and ask them to look using the backend Event Center (since you are in a different region I think you can't do it yourself)

(Don't forget that you may have logged out - and need to login before returning to daily COG online habits)

Member Area -> Calendar

Can't look at anything but SE calendar. I put in anything else in the drop down, it puts it back to SE.

Brain dead web programming.

What if you need to find an event from late last year to get information that isn't your own region? Or just want to see whats going on in another region, because, you know, someone might be riding all over the country and would be interested in dropping in?
