When loging in your receive this message

An Error Has Occurred!
The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: p_email_address
I am now aware of the issue and looking at how to resolve it.
Of course this happens on the day I'm leaving for the National.
Clearly the IT Gods are unhappy with me, I may have to sacrifice a PC to get this fixed.

Most will still be able to access the forum with their cached credentials

This is only an issue if users attempt to log in. For now, do not log out of forum and it should be Ok.

Ok. Here is the latest.
The error is related to a security update that was applied to the COGMOS server that's administered by Memberize. This has broken the authentication between the forum and the membership db.

Now we know the issue I hope to be able to tweek the code on the forum tomorrow to fix it.
This is a little more challenging as I'm on the road. I hope to have it fixed on Friday.

Big thumbs up to Colin as it appears to have stabilized and is working. Nice job "gettin er done" while on the road to the National, Colin.

I'm still seeing some inconsistency of being able to log in repetitively.  Not sure if it my connection at work or the code change.

Please post your experience. Is it working consistently for everyone?

If having trouble, try clearing browser data (ie cookies, cache, etc)

Repeated logins on multiple platforms using different browsers. Had to clear cookies and cache on one browser (IE). Simultaneous logins from multiple computers.

Private note from Colin indicated they still have a bit of work to do.

Email from the vendor Memberize moments ago indicated they are still actively working on the issue.  This may be the reason for it working/not working intermittently.  Will post updates as they come in while Colin is on the road.

From the vendor.... "We manually adjusted the WDSL file that defines the fields in the webservice.  It is working now and no need to modify your code."  So far, so good.

Sorry for the down time and we thank you all for the feedback and assistance in testing as things were getting corrected.

I see your posts.  I am not much help but your question does not make much sense to me.  How did you post the message if you are not logged in?   Since no one else is complaining what ever security message you are getting must need to be addressed from your end.  That is my guess anyway.

No idea....   I was able to login on the iPad.   Try clearing cache and cookies and try again.

I'm typing from my PC that is logged in "forever". I can't login on my ipad or my phone.
Not a big deal. Thanks for checking.

Try logging out on your PC, then try the ipad or phone again.

Chuck... works on both my iDevices running the latest iOS.  We can try stepping through on the phone sometime and compare screen responses. Ping me direct if you like.

I'm regularly getting a "Network Error (tcp_error)...connection refused" message when I try to use this forum. But not all the time. Sometimes I'm on for a while and then the browser stops and I get the "connection refused" message. Clearing the cache and restarting the browser sometimes helps.

That's at home, using my own WiFi router, Windows 7 and it doesn't matter if I try Internet Explorer or Chrome. The curious thing is that I can log on every time with my wife's computer (same OS; same browser; same WiFi). I can also log on from a different laptop using XP. Same WiFi. Which is what I'm doing now. And I can even access the forum with my phone: Android OS and again the same WiFi.

The only thing I've not tried is taking my big computer to another WiFi, but as the problem is intermittent, this wouldn't tell me anything.

Random and occasional inability to connect to a hosted web server for short timed (connection timeouts and the like) may be attributed to maintenance intervals. While a PITA, these types of outage are normal. I believe Colin had  looked into if this was a settable parameter with our hosting company, and it is not.

Keep track of login issues and compare notes here. If a trending pattern can be identified then there may be enough data to go back to the hosting service.  Please report the date/time and exact error messages displayed.

More times than not, unless everyone is experiencing a inability to connect or log in to the forum at the same time,  most likely the cause is local to the user and is specific to the browser or ISP.

Thanks Steve;

Steve is correct in his post above.
The challenge is there a a whole host of reason's that a member will not be able to login, or will temporarily receive a web-site not found or server unavailable message.

The more information provided on the issue the better I and others will be able to provide suggestions on how to fix it.
There are a lot of connections in the seemingly simple task of reading and responding to a forum post.

For example just recently Nancy could not get access to cog-online.org from her workstation or laptop at home, but was able to access other sites. It turned out to be a problem with her wireless router, that was randomly blocking that address.

In order to help authenticate we do use cookies.
Cookies store authentication and other information locally. Sometimes this information is out of sync with the information on the server, similarly web page information is also cached locally on users machines, and that can also be out of date.
Clearly cookies and or refreshing local cache can help authentication issues.

One of the challenges is that to clear local cache and cookies is different across all the different browsers and platforms, so there is no one answer or process to fix all issues.

If we find a recurring or common  issue  we can and will post up suggestions on how our members and guests can resolve the issue.

Cheers

Colin
