Before I select Member Registration for the spider rider, my browser shows "Non Secure," but when I click to register it goes to "Secure" mode.

Have you tried clicking on the Registration button?

Yes , it freezes the screen with a pop up that is blank. I always have trouble registering for events but don't usually see the unsecure thing.

I have read that the unsecure message is a ne "feature" of Chrome to alert you that the page is not using SSL. There is a move in the web industry to require all sites to use SSL. In my opinion it is not necesary for sites that do not request any user information such as ID and password, but I have been retired from the industry for 8 years and probably out of touch.

Lather - I’m in the “everything should be secure in transit” crowd.

Never know what a malicious actor can do with seemingly innocuous info gleaned from a man-in-the-middle “attack” (is it really an attack when the info isn’t encrypted and you’re blasting it out into the world for everyone to read?)

Wife and I both work in IT - everything today is VPN’d, even our phones.

It’s kind of like locking your car - it keeps honest people honest, and anyone breaking a window is clearly up to no good.

Thanks for your point of view. Chrome is telling me that forum.cog-online.org is "Not secure" as I post this  but since I am posting a simple comment to a forum open to the world, what could go wrong?
