posting pictures
« on: April 10, 2018, 02:44:21 pm »
I've been trying to post some pictures from smugmug and they won't post. I copy the link or address and paste it between the brackets when I click on "insert image". Then when I post it only shows the link or address. The picture itself won't post.

Any suggestions?

Post an example of what you are doing in this thread so we can see what you are doing.

Posting a pic from Smugmug typically works like a champ when using the correct link to the image and correct forum BB codes.  Here is a Smugmug photo from the 2014 national...

BLURRING OUT LICENSE PLATES?

Whenever I attend a rally or group ride, i end up with lots of photos of bikes, many with license plates on them.  Do you think anyone here cares if their plate is visible?  It is not an easy task to remove them, nor can I ask the question individually of each rider.  Has there ever been any forum discussion on the topic?  I don't want to create any privacy issues, but by the same token, everyone is always interested in seeing photos from our events.

Thoughts / guidelines?

My biggest issue is the limit on picture size for posting. I can post pictures on several other motorcycle forums with no problem but everytime I need to post something here it says 8mage too big. Grrrrrr......

I don't have a problem with my plate showing.  It shows all the time.  But please if I am doing something I should not, yes please take my plate off. :P

Jim, the pic size thing is a pain but loading and viewing your 8 gig photos also is a pain.  The club should not have to host them and they can slow the use of the forum down for everyone.  Viewing them most times requires scrolling the page over, also a pain.

When set it up this way it was just to give people with no hosting service a way to get a pic up.  Hosting it remotely is still the best for everyone.  Although times have changed and bandwidths and memory is a lot cheaper.  Maybe with a increase in dues we can afford a few terabytes for everyone's trip photos.
