User font & color control?
« on: December 01, 2019, 03:25:33 am »
I'm reading the forum at my usual time, almost midnight, on a 23" diagonal monitor.  I'm faced with huge blazing white space, Light blue font, light orange font, and when I measured it the capital letters were about 0.100" tall.
Of course as soon as I started complaining I remembered to try [Control]+[scroll wheel forward] to make everything big and readable.  Still, is there a way to make the forum easy to read at regular 100% size without zooming or whatever?
I'm using Win7 with chrome at the moment, I plan to upgrade my online computer soon, not sure what is wise to do other than stop using unsupported PCs online.  Alright that's off topic, sorry.
Is there a way to choose a more readable theme?  That's my question.

I'm using the Chrome Web browser on a Windows 7 OS. You can change the browser appearance by going into Chrome Settings and increasing Font Size and/or the Page Zoom. That's one way to handle it, even though you mentioned not wanting use any zoom features.

The size is ok today.
MOB, just looking at those took up a bunch of time and I decided to make up my mind later, if ever.

You can lower the screen resolution.
https://www.dummies.com/computers/operating-systems/windows-7/how-to-change-screen-resolution-in-windows-7/

Or

To change the system font size in Windows 7:
Close any open programs to save your work.
Go to Control Panel
Select Display
Click the option for 'Smaller -- 100% (default)'
Click Apply.
Log out of your user session, as prompted.

There is a button: "Toggle reader view" (Ctrl+Alt+R) in Firefox is a pretty cool feature.
You can find it on the right side in the URL search box.

Click on that and an amazing thing happens...

All the text font gets huge,
The screen instantly goes to black text on a white background,
All the graphics and colors are stripped out.

Click on it again and the COG universe is restored.
Nice feature.

It's so easy, even Ted can use it.  ;)
