Searched but can't find (Mode Button Mod)?
« on: May 31, 2011, 07:46:40 pm »
A friend told me there has been a few people to use their "high beam flash" trigger to operate the mode switch on the 08-09 dash.
Anyone have a link to what was done?

Is there a mod to use the high beam flash to do that AND fire the forward guns?   :rotflmao:

Bobby M: I recall it too. The information including pics was on the ZG Fanatics forum before it crashed.

I recall that the mod is to solder a wire to one of the connections on the circuit board in the instrument cluster and wire it to ground when the headlight flash switch is flipped. Unfortunately I have no idea which part of the circuit board it is.

Sorry.

I guess I'll have to find a wiring diagram and trace it down.

I did this on my 06 ZX14 and my buddies 08 Connie.

Here's a pic of the back of the dash board. The top one is the mode button.Pretty easy to do.I've been using the model airplane connectors so I ca disconnect everything if I have to take the dash out.

Then from there all you do is run a wire up to the left controls and splice into the pass switch.

I'm assuming that the location where the wires are soldered is also the location of the lower switch?  Great info - Thank You!

http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=6597.0

This write up from the other board shows the wire being soldered in a different spot. Can anyone advise which place is correct? Or, if either will work? I would like to make my flash to pass button scroll through instead of adding another switch. I never use the flash to pass button anyway.

I am really not sure how to undo or unhook the FTP button to use it just for this mod. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks for all the help,
Huero
