Post by: stevewfl on December 21, 2015, 05:12:26 am
Thoughts from you all, bike almost 6 years old, Kawi offering me to renew unlimited mileage warranty on my >111,000 mile bike.  Your thoughts?

The price of the warrenty will pay for itself on the first visit for a repair.

Buy it. This purchase can pay for itself in one visit to the dealer.

The Kawasaki extended warranty seems to be a better deal than most purchased warranties.

I (almost) never let the dealer touch my bikes, so unless a real disaster were to occur, the extended warranty typically isn't something I'm interested in, but the number of very expensive systems on the C14, and the relatively low cost of the extended warranty make it much more attractive!  Especially with a 6 year old bike with over 100K I expected to keep.

I never buy the extended warranty..

There is a fine line between trying to prove to a dealer whether it's a design fault OR if it wear and tear. I've only heard of owners getting new TPMS under warranty..

I personally think it's a waste of money.

The question I would like to know is:

1: How many people have claimed off the warranty?
2: What were the claims for?

It would be interesting to know the figures

I just purchased a new 0 mile 2014, my factory warranty expires 10/2021, cost $339. It's called piece of mind, and that is priceless.

I'm playing both sides of this question,  ;D but here's another way to look at purchasing extended warranties.

For a long time, every time I buy anything which offers an extended warranty to purchase, I decline, and mentally put that much cash in my "Fix it" account.

Since on the average, those purchased warranties are priced to make the seller money, After many years doing this, and very few actual failures which would have been covered I now have a HUGE positive balance in that "Fix it" account.

I Agree with you too.  However TPMS replacement is likely more than the extended warranty price.

I've had 3 TPMS replacements and two sets of warped rotors on two different C14's covered. TPMS sensors and rotors aren't cheap.

My first extended warranty paid for itself with the TPS sensor replacement alone, then the ignition work on a complimentary spring that never left me walkin' but did act weird   at times :beerchug:   :beerchug:

I got the first extended warranty for my 08 and never used it. I did not renew when it expired. I figure if anything is gonna  break it would have done so in the first 100,000 miles. I'm now at 153,000 and it still has only been in the shop for bag latch recall. I'd rather spend the $330 on tires.
