1/4 mile trip.
« on: November 18, 2011, 11:23:30 pm »
Hello; Mike here. I am taking my 08 Concours to the 1/4 mile dragstrip tomorrow to see what it will do. Bike has 22,000 miles with full Area P exhaust, PCV, K+N air filter, ZX-14 throttle bodies with the secondary plates removed. I am close to 200 lbs with all my gear on. I will let you know what it runs. Mike.

I would.  WHat do they weigh empty? Almost nuttin'.  And ET is determined way before they become aerodynamically hindering.  Sure, they might cost ya two or three MPH, but no more than a hundred or so ET.  I'd run em on just so folks realize it's a Concours and not a Ninja.

Fast baggers rule!

That and you can enjoy a cool beverage while in pre-stage lanes.   :rotflmao:

Well, these are the results. I went a 10.63 at 136.08 My 60 foot was a 1.909 which is bad, and my 1/8th mile was 6.924 at 108.6 mph. I had a much better 60 foot on the one pass, but the bike went into a huge first gear wheelie, and I hit the rev limiter. I kind of screwed up because I was also racing my 04 ZX10R. I just took the Concours along to get an idea of what it would do. I went a 9.81 at 154.44 on my ZX10. It was just too difficult to go back and forth between the 2 bikes and do good. I thought the Concours would do 136, and that is exactly what it did. I was happy with the 108 in the 1/8th mile, and with a better launch, I think it could do 110 in the 1/8th. I should have been able to 60 foot the bike in the 1.6's at least. That would make a huge difference in ET. I just couldn't get the feel of it as I only got 6 passes on it, and like I said jumping back and forth between bikes. I know that I can definately go 10.30's on it, but with a really good rider, I think it could go low,low 10's. If I take it again, I will be sure it is the only bike, and that way I can get used to it, and get some better times. The bike ran great with no problems, and I did beat several sportbikes, including a friends Busa. Thanks. Mike.

Did you get any crazy looks by running with the bags on it?

The clutch is just fine. I ran the bike without the bags on. The bike was ridden to the track, and then back home. You can go to indieimagescustomphotos.com to see some pictures of the racing. There is a good picture of me leaving on my friends 2011 Busa with the front end up. There are also pictures of me on my blue ZX10. Just click on the gallery for Nov 19th. Mike.
