1st adjustment valve clearances
« on: April 06, 2015, 02:27:42 pm »
For those who wonder about these things... Results from a first valve adjustment, 2012, 26K miles. Owner reports he doesn't baby the engine, but doesn't try to explode it either.

intakes - all were at .003 - ,004".  All under spec.

Exhaust - all were at .007" except for 1 at .008" In spec, at the minimum for 7 of 8.

All are back to maximum or -.0005" now.  Owner reports idle quality is improved.

 Just FYI - Steve

I did mine at 15k miles and had to change every single shim in the head. I've done quite a few other bikes now as well, and I have yet to find one that didn't have at least 12 out of the 16 valves that had to have shims changed on them.

^^ yes, just take it to the dealer cause they care just enough to put your engine at the lowest acceptable spec.......... :o
