Title: 200,000 miles I finally made it!
Post by: Just Cliff on April 30, 2018, 11:42:51 pm
As the title says, I made it to the 200,000 mile mark!  :) Gotta say it was a good feeling.

Bike runs as good or better than new, I credit that to the EVO flash. I still like it as much more than when new. So I guess there's nothing left to do but keep riding it.  :motonoises:

Think I'll have my 1st. oil analysis done & see what Blackstone Laboratory has to say.

I need a new sticker, who's the keeper of the stickers now?

That’s awesome Cliff.  At the risk of starting another oil thread  ;D what are you using for oil and filter and how often do you change it?

I use OEM or K&N filters with Rotella T6 oil. Change it every 5,000 miles unless I'm traveling, then I just let go the length of trip. Typically no more than 6,000 - 7,000 miles.

There is a guy in the SE that has a V-Strom 1000 with well over 200k on it and Suzuki has put his story in several of their publications. Pretty sure they've thrown other stuff at him to. He is on ADV rider but can't recall his handle there. He once raced with WERA back early 2000s and I remember him from there as well.

I agree Kawasaki should latch onto Cliffs story and run with it and throw him some swag for the rights to the story.

That was 250k back on 11/2016.   Does she still have the bike and if so how many now.   It just goes to show that most bikes have a long lifespan with good maintenance and some without maintenance.

Valves were done at 64,000 - 120,000 & 195,000.

Changed fuel filter around 140,000.

Nothing but the one little electrical glitch I had a few years ago.

Congrats Cliff,
It took me 16 years of commuting to make 224,000 on my Honda Magna. She's still rolling good! I bought the C14 to replace her as my everyday commuter and 15 mos. into the new C14 I'm at 20k miles. Tires are killing me. I may have to break out the Magna again for some of the commuting as I get 14k on my front tire and 18k miles on my rear tire.
