2010 C14 CanBus
« on: May 06, 2015, 11:25:02 pm »
I did a quick search of the area and didn't find my answer anywhere, My question is: can anyone tell me if the 2010 Connie is a single wire tail/light canbus or a 3 wire tail/brake light system. I've got an 'Addmorelights' tail, brake, turn light to add and the wiring is different dependant on the system. I know I could probably tear it down for the install and find out, but I wanted to get a jump on this and know before I begin.

Thanks for any help offered.

The C14 does have a CANBus, but I don't believe the tail light is a part of that system.  It's possible I'm wrong on this as I've not looked at the wiring diagram but if I get a chance I will.

The CANBus does connect the instrument cluster, the KiPass ECU, the FI ECU, and the steering lock/key switch unit.  The CANBus can be accessed under the seat on the diagnostic connector.

The tail light is a 3 wire.
Matt
I know this is an old thread, but I had a question about CAN bus (for wiring lights to my topcase) and searched the forums and found this.  Noob question: Does that fact that the tail light is 3 wire mean that it is not on the CAN bus.  I have the same question about the turn signals.  BTW, my Concours is the 2015 model if that makes a difference.

Lighting on the C-14 is conventional and does not use CANbus. In fact, CANbus is only used by internal systems and nothing accessible to the end user such as lights, horn, any switches or any other input or output.
