There are two basic models:

1) The 2008/2009
2) The 2010+

These can be clearly distinguished by the bodywork.  The 08/09 has small somewhat squarish vents on the side fairing and the 2010+ has longer and larger vents on the sides.  The 2008-2010 have OPTIONAL ABS while 2011+ all include ABS and Traction Control.

Starting with the 2015 models (I believe) there is a change in the 1st gear ratio, a change in the front/rear brake linking, and a windshield vent added.  Other than that, all the 2011+ models are essentially identical.

I've not heard the "A", "B", "C" designations, however.

2015 also introduced the dual O2 sensor exhaust, thus changing the complete ECU and program.
Changes in the seat design (shape and padding /material only) also took place, but they interchange.

So, in essence, it is the "third" gen bike

Somewhere along the line, '13 bikes TPMS sensors changed, along with the switch from silver painted rims, to black...

I don't have the list handy, but each version had other small "differences".

If the black painted wheels indicate anything, my 2012 has black rims.

The 2008 does not have a speed limiter. Thus making it the fastest of the C14's.

Full bags, Shad 42 L trunk, stock screen in low position,
160+ with speedo bouncing a bit, was focusing on road, for 2 miles.... 158 reecorded on Garmin 2610 thru that, and had ample throttle to go maybe 7-8 mph more, when twisting throttle... it would still go up a bit, but I ran out of "safe" (I.e. un patrolled road) zone.

I know that an 09 with Steve's Decel Flash and enlarged ram air inlet ports will do 183 mph on a dry lake bed through certified timing lights. Not enough for a class record but not bad for almost stock. Incidentally I achieved 2.03 psi intake pressure as measured with an independent sensor and data logger. Still looking for more. 5 psi would be huge.

Gen. 1, 2008 and 2009. No traction control, old style front rotors and front brake pads, original body work w/ useful glove box in front / center of fuel tank. ABS optional.
Gen. 2A) 2010 Traction control, ABS optional, new bodywork that is cooler and has useless glove box on left side of fuel tank. Same front rotors but new front brake pads that are less sensitive, less effective, make less dust and did not resolve the front disc warping issue.
Gen. 2B) 2011 onward: same as 2010 but ABS not optional, now on all bikes.
Gen. 2C) mid. 2012 / 2013 unannounced update: same as 2011 Gen. 2B but new front rotors to stop the warping issue, this time fairly effective. also, a change in <the hated> linked brake system, also deemed an improvement.

Some changes in 2015 model but honestly, I cannot delineate them.

I replaced my front rotor's last year (on my '09 model).  Wonder if the 2013 part number superceded the '09 model year part number.

Good information!  Thanks! :beerchug:

Just looked at the parts diagram on RonAyers.com.  The part number for the '09 was apparently NOT superceded.  They are interchangeable, aren't they?  :-\

Iirc the difference is the paint on the hub section.
They physically interchange, as do the ZX1400 Ninja rotors, all the same dimensionally.

Yes, all years are interchangeable.

If you see two C-14s, and 'early' and a 'late', the difference jumps right out at you. Easy to spot at, say, any COG gathering.

What they changed was the disc carrier, and it is quite different between the different versions. Again, not sure when they snuck that one in but it seems sometime during the 2012 model year and perhaps as late as the 2013 model year. Walking down a row of C-14's at the national rally in TN, the new ones stood out like a sore thumb but because I do not remember which year C-14's after 2011 (true silver, not gray like the '08's), I cannot tell which year bike I am looking at, at least w/out looking at the serial number.

And it seems like the change was successful, that being based entirely on the forum reports of warped rotors, which are way, way down from the earlier models. No specific data or percentages known (Kawasaki knows of course but they are not spreading that info. around).

Sad to say, but the Connie is due for a REAL update.  ::)

The FJ has now surpassed it pretty handily...LED headlamps, integrated Cruise, Elect. suspension, and EVEN a 6th gear!!  :-\

I guess I shouldn't complain....i'll just want a new one IF they finally update it!
For now, I'm pretty content.
