Wish I could have been a fly on the wall when they decided on that paint scheme.  Me no like.  Also, did Kawi change their website...you can no longer switch between current and last year's models?

I was just at the Kaw website.  You can switch between 2018 and 2019 models.  Just click on 2018.

Thanks Bud.  I thought you could switch between years after clicking the Connie, but have to click Learn More button first...my bad.

My initial reaction is, I like it.   :great:  But they still put Bridgestone Battleaxe tires on it.  Don't they follow the COG forum?   >:(

I like it!  Based on the photo, that is.  I am reminded of the 2005 C10 which looked fantastic in the brochures, but the color 'Pearl' or whatever name they used at the time was, in reality, 'Old Man Sedan Brown.'  I look forward to seeing one in person.

Pearl Luster Beige I believe it is called.  I have one of those.  I'm not seeing "Old Man Sedan Brown".  You would be referring to my 1982 GS1100GK......and I resemble that comment! :nananana:

...I'm sure it would grow on me (if I could afford a new '19 :(), but it seems to be looking more 'industrial' and less 'sleek'...IMHO.

If they did follow, the bike would have Cruise control by now.
Same thing with the Hayabusa this year, 20 anniversary and just bold new graffix!

I am thankful it is in production.

If the color does not sell they will change it next year , hopefully.

My apologies, Bud.  Is 'Kawasaki Racing Brown' better?

I've had a bunch of motorcycles in my life.  I've never made a buying decision based on color.

No apologies needed.....you can call it whatever makes you feel good.  There is an awful lot of brown on this earth that didn't come from a paint can.  Hope it doesn't hurt anyone's eyes! :nananana: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I'm glad it's in production as well.  But I'm glad I just found a leftover 2017 in blue...

As colors go, the black scheme on the '18 is ok looking, but whatever they were thinking for the '19 model, was a big mistake, it looks totally Gooched being multi color, and in the manner it was done, looks very poor as the color match and break off points looks like a cobbled together bike that was wrecked and assembled from pieces parts... and slapping on that cheesy vinyl graphics makes it even cheesier looking... total FAIL on them...

yechhhhhhh  :-[ :-[

I HATE black, why would one try to be inconspicuous on a bike?

As others have mentioned, I'm glad they're producing them for another year. That said, I'm sad that another year has gone by without much updating in the styling, other than the color. I think they would get an uptick in sales if they made some changes to the bike like LED head lights, updated/modernized gauge cluster maybe some other slight changes. I just wish they would make some changes to make a newer bike look newer and make an attempt at keeping up with the FJR changes.

They're gonna milk this design as long as they can get away with it.  There won't be anything major until the next generation.....if there is a next generation.  My hope is that Mama Kaw will pay more attention to the desires of COG members and other fans of the Concours if they continue the model.  I'm not gonna hold my breath.

So Mama K has paid more attention than you might know. Just reluctant to add factory cruise control. That would probably require fly by wire.

Just curious what mama kaw listened to COG about when they developed either of the Concours.  Not trying to be a smarty pants, just looking for more info.

Like others I'm happy to see the C14 going for another year. I'm afraid this color scheme will drive the final nail in it's coffin. What sales they have could come to a halt it's so bad.

It's absolutely awful, appears they just used leftover mismatched parts. Must of had a bunch of leftover black tanks. On the upside, leftovers in 2020 & 21 should be dirt cheap for anyone willing to repaint.

What were they thinking? Never mind they weren't!   :'(

Something just seems wrong in making a touring seat a $534.00 accessory for a touring bike.

I actually didn't mind the color scheme, though I really like the green the best, with the black next from previous years.

Cruise control will probably come about to meet Euro4 or 5 standards.  It's relatively easy to add once you go to fly-by-wire.

I wonder how the internal company dynamics are between Kawasaki Heavy Industries and the motorcycle business.  KHI makes a lot of money manufacturing body sections for Boeing airplanes.  It probably isn't this way, but I think of the motorcycle business as being almost a hobby for them in comparison.  I'm glad they like motorcycles though; the world is a better place for it.

And yes, the body sections are green when they come to Seattle.  :)

Hey, they are making the fast silver again, just like mine. Too bad it has that black stripe, it's almost as perfect as the 08. I'm also super glad they are still making them as it will let me keep buying  used ones with low miles far into the future. I don't care about the cruise control, and I just rode 26 hours in 48. Throttle lock is fine with me for the rare stretches of straight slab when I want it.

Humbly speaking, I am one of those who does think the green is the ultimate bike on the road. And I even saw one pass me by here on Bainbridge Island! It's the only color cooler than silver in my book, and yes, I will buy a green one whenever I wear out my silver.

Can live with what is going to happen with the '19 BUT.....do they have a warehouse full of those dang hideous mufflers??  Please.....design something visually pleasing that will work with the bike's performance!

Chris

I am very happy for another year as well. I felt a little foolish for the sad feeling i had when there was talk that Connie would be no more.
Most of us know this is an industry in decline. I hope the millenials get off their dang phones and get out and ride..

BTW- hate the color scheme.. and while I never bought a bike just based on color.. it does matter.. at least a little..

Hears hoping for 2020 and beyond.. Thanks Kawasaki

careful what you ask for...

it could be you will have to pay extreme prices, and still get a fuggly muffler...

all the folks are GaGa about the H2... so when that bike becomes the standard, for PRICE and looks... you can again complain...

NINJA H2™
MSRP $29,000
DESTINATION CHARGE $370 †
† Specifications and pricing are subject to change.
Dealer sets the actual destination charge, your price may vary.

and changing that muffler, ain't happening.. as it relates to the bikes operational needs...

Kaw also spread the fugliness onto the ZX1400... with it's dual color schema... at least it was used in a manner that seperated nicely between the parts fitup....

but...
you want a muffler? how about 2 of them, even worse.... :)) :)) :-\

I'm taking a more laid back approach. :)  I love my 2014 BMW F800GT.  They started making them in 2013 and are still making them as of 2017.  They did update them to ride-by-wire in 2017, but that doesn't matter to me.  I like what I have.  If BMW quits making the F800GT, and I need a replacement...there are a lot of low mileage used models out there.  They'll take care of my needs till I'm too old to ride.

I go through what all of us do.   I look at the new bikes coming out and think of what they would be like to own.  It's fun.  Then I do something that never fails.  ;)  I compare what the new bike will give me...and what the new bike will cost me.  Never once have I looked at a new bike and been willing to part with many thousands of $$ to have a very small incremental improvement.  Like I said, I'm very happy with what I have.  I'm blessed.  :)

Here is what I posted up on the COG FB page. To add as we parted the Ma Kaw rep said keep that club going. My reply was keep making that bike and we will.
OK boys and girls. The 2019 Concours C14 release. Direct from the AIME show. Introduced myself and he said he know's of COG. I asked what was new for 2019. The rep told me it has cruise control. I looked at him, he looked at me, and we laughed and laughed. Only change is the BNG's. First look it looked like a Keith E Williams mashup. The silver and black hit me as odd. The silver matte finish looks kinda cool though. The green highlight stripe is nice. I tried to pry the rep with alcohol about Mom Kaw's intention for the future of the C14 and his lips were sealed. Mom Kaw ain't talking. I asked if Kaw was going to focus sport touring on the H2 platform. It was non committal. He said the H2 does have cruise. I replied yep, it also has a chain. No H2SX on the floor to check out though? He told me the 19 wasn't ready for the show. More to come from the AIME show.
Also to add besides the new wing and Feej I didn't see anything else in the field comparable. BMW was not at the show. Suzi doesn't offer a ST. And for a 15k MSRP? Left overs for 12.5? Like a limp----, can't beat it.
