Title: A good dealer support story
Post by: Old Man on a Connie on November 15, 2018, 11:53:46 pm
I rec'd this message from UK John and thought it worth passing on (Reprinted with permission):
I ride a 2008 C14 and it is a dream. I got it as a workhorse and it has never let me down apart from a battery letting go a mile from home. I recently took it in for the 82500 mile service, I knew it was going to be a big thing as there were some items that I needed to play catch up on. The shop it took it to was Nash Powersports, they bought out the shop I used previously for many years, Apache Motorcycles. So I had a little apprehension going from more the old school shop to the new big flashy store. I had the shop investigate the rear brake as the pedal had gone very hard and the action was not very good. Eventually I was contacted by Tony at the shop that after a long time talking to the Kawasaki help line the ABS unit was bad and needed to be replaced. I was not looking at an additional $1400 + labour but as I love the bike it was needed. Tony suggested that I call Kawasaki and see if there was anything they could do to help with the cost. I called Kawasaki and they saw there was no resolution to the work ticket so I was told they would call Nash Powersports.
A couple of days later I was contacted by Tony and informed that Kawasaki would be covering the cost of the ABS unit. I went to collect my bike this morning and then found that Kawasaki had also covered the labour costs. So I had a bill that was less than half what I was initially expecting.
In summery I was very pleased, the shop could have just told me that the cost of the ABS unit and left it at that instead they tried other options then Kawasaki came through too. So I am happy to recommend Nash Powersports plus very impressed with Kawasaki. Things may not workout the same for others but it was great for me.
Shop is Nash Powersports in Phoenix, 1880 S 7th Ave

Sorry, that does not make good cartoon material.

However...good for you! Good happy ending.

I have always believed in building customer loyalty over shopping around.  The writer (UK John) mentioned that this was a dealer that he'd been using for several years.  Even though it was now under new ownership, I wonder if they knew of his previous visits.  If so, that might have led to the dealer going the extra mile.

Either way, it was a good story.
