Air filter install tip
« on: July 23, 2019, 06:48:23 pm »
Thought I would share this . Every time Ive had an air filter out Ive found it very hard to clean the track it rides in. Dont want o blow air as this will send debris toward the throttle bodies. So I always used a rag and a long screwdriver or what ever. Never could get them clean as I wanted to.
Yesterday as I was replacing my filter I happend to see my gun cleaning kit laying in the bench and ha thats the tool.
I have some shotgun mops in there. So Just put the mop on a rod and reach in there and drag the tracks from deep in side toward me.  They came out very clean. and the debris stayed on the mop.
Then I noticed bugs and such inside the inlets. Looking from the front of the bike through the grills. I took a piece of tubing and went from the air filter side in the ducts (left and right) using using compressed air to blow the junk out . Worked great.
Ok I know its no amazing tip but maybe it'll help someone.

So, after hearing the trash can getting the H beat out of it, we're looking at the dinner plate size bear tracks in the snow. My wife says, "Why don't you go down and see if it's still there?"!!!
