It's 6 am and I've been wide awake for an hour and a half now (still on Texas time). Can't understand why all these California folks sleep so late, I'm ready to hit the road.    Last night the Kawasaki staff took us all out to eat at a really nice Kobe steak house where at least one incident of Shrimp Duckin took place. Oh, and they gave us each an Ipod shuffle as a gift (lime green of course). I'm tellin ya, these moto-journalists live a rough life.    I went around and got few pics (in the dark). They have one fitted with outriggers for testing the traction control. That should be interesting to ride...

They gave me about a 30 minute briefing on all the changes, and then we went out and rode the bikes on some really twisty California roads. I put the bike through its paces pretty good and fully tested out every new feature on it. I think we did about a 150 mile loop or so. We rode up into the mountains where the temp dropped to 46 at one point, and I had to use the heated grips. We also did some interstate and some city stop and go in 85 degree temps. When we got back, I got a chance to try the bike with outriggers on the skid pad and play with the ABS and traction control.    We stopped and shot photos in several locations on the ride and I have also been taking pictures of the bike all day long.    I don't want to spoil the review, but I will tell you this. The heat issue is solved. Now I have to get busy and compile my notes and photos.

I'm sitting in the airport in Palm Springs waiting on my flight.    I have about 1/3 of the review done, and got a look at some of the photos that the photographer took on the ride yesterday. They are really good photos but I don't have a CD drive on this little netbook to load them with.    I did get a chance to ride the bike with outriggers on the skid pad and slide it around some. It was an interesting experience. The event was like a who's who in the moto-journalism industry with all the major magazines represented. Kawasaki put did a bang up job on the intro, and it was truly a first class event all the way.    After riding the bike, I predict there is going to be a flood of used FJR's on the market very soon. What was already a good bike, is now even better.
