Bent sidestand?
« on: September 03, 2017, 08:03:15 pm »
The previous owner had installed lowering links. I think he may of torched and bent the sidestand (rust). Ive since put the stock links and exhaust back on. What do you guys think?

I think going on ebay, and finding an OEM original part, and replacing it as soon as possible, would be a very wise move...
Do not try to reheat and re bend the already compromised one... it will just make it even more prone to failure...
The stand is a forged steel part, when it was heated and bent, the recrysalized metal when cooled, is very prone to micro cracks internally, and can fracturre at any time now.
Be safe, a new stand is cheaper than a new fairing and bags...

Best of luck,
Ride safe

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Kawasaki-ZG14-ZG1400-Concours-Side-Kickstand-Kick-Stand-Spring-08-10-K022-/262816530516?hash=item3d31160054:g:EEsAAOSw5cNYgnuI&vxp=mtr

There ya go... buy that puppy right now.... don't bid, use the buy it now, that is an awsome price... that parts assembly is worth $150+ new... and all you need really is the leg... but.as.it sits, its super easy replacement...

Oops, I had to check prices... hold on...and freak out... that assembly of parts is over $330 new... so.....
Buy it... BUY IT NOW.....
Oh, that seller does not really know, but it is NOT damaged, it should look like that, so BUY IT..... :great: :great: :)

Now, hopefully some profiteering buttknob doesn't scoop it up, and resell it......
