C14 fuel pump filter part #?? Anyone?
« on: February 13, 2018, 12:28:47 am »
Fuel pump filter replacement. I searched and searched and searched, I cannot find the part # to the C14 fuel pump filter replacement. I want to change my ZX14's filter, I asked Murph but he said he has never found that piece??? BUT  :beerchug: he said he would stock it if it can be found? I read the threads and its shows the filter being swapped out on a really dirty one. But the part # and or where it can be found has escaped me so far.

thanks everyone.

What kind of mileage is it due for replacement? I know it depends on the quality of the fuel but approx?

It's also available as a Kaw service kit with O rings:  99999-0521

Or on ebay with Cliff's part number for a whole lot less.

The filter is not meant to be serviced, much like the old style TPMS. It can be done though, the same filter is used in many ATV's. Not extremely hard just takes a little time.

This is how mine looked at 140,000 miles.

I'm not sure what that service kit is. The only O ring I remember is the one between the tank & pump. Kawasaki doesn't show it to be a serviceable part.

Ron Ayers prices -  #99999-0521 - $62.00  --------------- #49019-0013 - $10.75

While Kawasaki doesn't show the fuel pump as a serviceable item, it's clear that the replacement filter element is an exact match and it's relatively easy to service.  The filter is fairly small and so it will clog up pretty easily, sometimes with just one tank of dirty gas.  The alternative, unfortunately, is to replace the entire fuel-pump assembly which is quite expensive and in my view, totally unnecessary if the only problem is the filter.

Amazon has it listed for $12.99 shipped and add some tax.

WOW!

Walmart lists it, partszilla, Amazon, all sorts of places have it for really nice price.

I searched Kawasaki part number 49019-0013 on google and bingo!

The same/simlar pump is fitted to the VN900 which is serviceable with this kit.   :)

Crap, I thought the filter not available so I just cleaned mine.  It looked good to go for another 50k when I put it back in though.

I use the ebay ones these days and carry a spare after getting just 5300km on a replaced filter 2 years ago.  I'd obviously refuelled soon after a tanker had dumped a few thousand gallons in the underground storage tank and stirred up 25 years of crud - then I came along to buy it.   :'(

It had some o-rings in the pump that could be replaced.  It never hurts to replace them.   I also did not see that they were stressed or compressed much in this usage so I did not feel they had to be replaced.
