centerstand
« on: January 25, 2019, 06:46:22 am »
Hello all...

Just got my 2009 connie... It has great add-ons Vstream windshield Helibars handle bars and a delkevic pipe.. However after a 625 tire and oil change i realized it is missing the one thing that would help reduce cost and it would be a center stand. Being new to you guys and the Connie.. anyone have recommendations on a good center stand brand to replace or is oem good enough.

All the best!!

First, Congrats on the bike!  Sounds like it's farkled nicely.  Welcome to COG!  If there is anything you want to know about your C14, this is the place.

I don't think I've heard of anyone with an aftermarket center stand.  I guess they're out there, just not seen one.  The OEM stand is just fine.  If yours is missing, I'm wondering if the bike has been lowered.  If that is the case, you're going to have to alter an OEM stand by shortening it.  The quick work around is to roll the rear wheel up on a 2x6 or something to raise the bike up a bit so you can get it up on the stand.  If everything is stock, then no need to do that.  Stock C14's go up on the stand very easily.  Enjoy your ride.  Join COG! :motonoises:

Brian we can compare my bike to yours when you get over this way. To see if it has been lowered.

Only other reason I can think of to remove the centerstand would be to accomodate aftermarket headers, or a ZX14 header, and even then - it's a simple modification.

Well....."simple" is a bit of a misnomer:  it can be done for not too much money.

What's a center stand?

Removed it to install ZX 14 headers. don't miss it.

Should be fairly easy to determine if its lowered.  How tall are u? If ur shorter than 5'9" with a 30" inseam or less, and can put BOTH feet flat on the ground, it's probably been lowered.. :)

just look at the shock links, down below, aftermarket ones can clearly be noticed as "non stock", as they look completely different than the OEM's...
