COG Insurance Discount
« on: November 16, 2009, 11:52:00 am »
Did you know that you can get a 10% discount on your insurance if you belong to COG? I just found this out and never realized it before. Many insurance companies will give you this discount, so it's worth checking out. It more than pays for my COG membership dues. Check with your insurance carrier and ask if they provide this discount.

I'm in the midst of switching companies, but Dairyland offers the COG discount. Others insurance companies may too if you ask.

By the way, Dairyland quoted me DOUBLE the rate on the 2010 Concours over the 08/09 model. I have no idea why they did this, as the CC rating is the same. They claim the rate quotes on many of the 2010 models went up significantly. You would be wise to shop around, cause the other carriers did not raise their rates like Dairyland did.

I was waiting to hear about the rate hikes on the 2010...I guess it's true,  I thinke we all "jumped the shark", and got grandfathered in on the C14 intro because it was new, and they classed it as more tour than sport...    I have to check on this "discount' you speak of, I can't see why an insurance company would give anything off, just for being a COG member...    Who does our COG rally protection policies? Maybe that was why?  I'm thinking the Gecko ain't givin' me a discount, but I'll run it past them.

Dairyland was the only one who raised their rates on the 2010 model. It was an across the board raise on all 2010 model bikes, not just the C14. They claim that the repair costs have gone up. None of the other companies I checked with raised the rates significantly on the 2010.
