Concours for 2018 ?
« on: October 10, 2017, 07:03:07 pm »
This probably signals the end of the Concours line. Not much info just the typical teasers.

The Entire Auto Industry is moving towards Turbocharging (again) and Kawi is moving towards Supercharging.

Interesting.  I'll bite!  :beerchug:

The KAW H2 and H2R have had supercharge sys for 2 years.
Kaw has several patents on their supercharging.

Dealer here says the Concours is not to be replaced anytime soon.
He doesn't know what is to be introduced but guesses it's a 900 version, not a sport tourer.
He also said that they aren't gong to Milan.

BMW MiniCooper S was supercharged initially and replaced with turbo charging.
I like supecharging on motorcycles. It's a compact package.
A supercharged C14, man-o-man!

Let's look at this realistically... people balk at the price on a C14 currently, and whine about all the shortcomings, like no cruise control, or throttle by wire, or ergo's, or whatever.... the bike has been out here for 10 years now, and ain't gonna change... too much "stock parts" and expense on Kaw's part to ditch it before its time...
Now look at the H2's, as mentioned.... where Kaw took a bike that had basically been produced for another decade, and sold for a mderate price, and added a supercharger to it... and bumped the bottom line price by $13,000, and the "R" verson by almost 4X.... yeah... wise choice... all fun till one blows up, or fails... out of warranty....  they already created a niche market "money pit" for anyone with enough disposable income to afford either...

I don't see a supercharged C14 "sport touring" machine in the near, or distant future...

Come on folks.... @ $3500 for a supercharger... you want one on your bike?

Exhaust system? This ain't no "Two Brothers /Area P" swapout....

Oh... add up all the prices for an H2R exhaust....
OMG

Fuel injection control unit??? Can you flash me please????

Hi,
       I hope you are right!

Looking at this crowd, as a group, in the age bracket most are in (upper?).....

I don't see a lot of riders here, trading in for something twice as expensive.

As the C14 does a LOT of things, very well!

Like I said, I'm good...... Probably for ever! (However long that is!) >:D

Cycle World yesterday

https://www.cycleworld.com/kawasaki-has-supercharged-sport-tourer-set-to-debut

I don't see any mention of the US market, ergo Milan, Italy. I'm guessing, also.

The H2 is not "just a supercharger" on prexisting hardware. It's kinda' trick. If I had disposable income, I'd have one for fun. :)
It is ridiculously expensive, however.
And the R?
F that!
The R isn't even street legal.

I tried this research in April before buying my second C14. I would have waited if Kaw redesigned the C14. I would be really upset if the C14 changed for 2018. It hasn't!
I like that I've thrown enough $ at my 2016 and I still haven't exceeded the 2017 MSRP.

Once again, a supercharged C14 is intriguing.

I would think if Kawi were smart they would be developing a true  adventure bike. Seems that is where most focus is these days. If not, they will miss the boat. Sport touring is really overall not that big a chunk of the market these days. But a bike to challenge the Africa Twin or the Super Tenere would be awesome.

In my humble opinion Kawasaki and Suzuki have already missed that boat.

I don't know there's a number of supercharged cars and trucks out there. Be at supercharged positive displacement or centrifugal or turbocharged, I'd say the automotive Industries moving towards forced induction.

Just made a topic about this that was summarily moved to the 'Other Motorcycles' forum where it will die a slow, agonizing death...like every other thread in that sub-forum.

Kawasaki should totally make one. But with one binding condition. Make it as affordable as it is in current form.

If you use your google-fu skills, you'll find myriads of articles explaining the HYPE behind forced induction engines.

They have a lot of money tied up in R&D for the H2 and they're probably coming out with a sport-touring machine (emphasis on sport) to help recoup their development money faster. Also, I'd say the Concours 14 isn't going anywhere.

I saw this picture and article on FB this morning. Sounds interesting. Looks like they plan to keep some of the C14 while merging elements of the H2 and Z1000.
Price estimates said $23,000 to $25,000, though!
And still read nothing about CC....
Said something about semi-electronically adjustable suspension... whatever that means?

Looks cool, probably one fast bike, but pricey!
