Coolant overfill question!
« on: July 21, 2019, 11:01:54 pm »
Hey all, I noticed my coolant was getting toward the empty line so I Took off the plastics and filled up coolant to the fall line. I know that typically some drainage occurs so I should stop short of FULL a bit to account for any excess that will end up causing it to be level with FULL anyway.

After a half an hour I noticed it was about a quarter inch or so above the top of the fill line. What sucks is I already put the plastics back on. The fluid is equal with the top of the “F” in FULL. I will likely just strip off the plastics again and get some of it out with an oil hose.

But in general, is this type of minimal overfilling a problem?

Don't worry, after the engine cools down the reservoir level should drop. Don't fret this at all. A bit above or below the full line means nothing.

Plus, stating the obvious ... the reading when on the kick-stand being different than the reading when bike is level...just saying. Yeah, like he said, I wouldn't worry over it.
