Does this look familiar?
« on: May 06, 2018, 10:10:30 pm »
I found this on the driveway near my Bike (C14).  It does look familiar but I have not been wrenching on her lately other than putting the battery back in from winter storage.  Does it look familiar to any of you? or is it some random spacer from one of my other projects? :confuse:

I'd put in my two cents, but not when I have to download a zip file to see the evidence!

I understand, I'm not sure how else to get the photos I have attached to the posting?

It's a small metal disk with two diameters and a hole that goes through it about 6mm the flange is about .100 thick and the smaller one is twice as long and about .300 in diameter.

Looks like one of the bushings that go on the battery cover or body panel bolts that Kawasaki charges too much for!

It's steel, magnetic.  The large diameter is a bit more than 5/8ths the small is 3/8 the large is a bit thicker than a 1/16th of an inch the smaller diameter one is 5/32nds long
the center through hole is 1/4dia.

Darn MOB. How do you keep all this minutia in your head? I can hardly remember what day it is when I wake up in the morning/night/afternoon. Maybe that's my problem, each day starts at a different time. :-[

After thinking a bit more, knowing there are a bunch of various length collars with the same diameters, I do think its the fuel tank rear mount ones... the others vary in length.. and are longer..

11mm lg, -0445 mounting gage cover to cowl brkt
12.1mm lg, black, -1651 mounting relay bracket to cowling tube bracket
?mm lg. -0666 mounting tail light bracket to tail section frame
13.1mm lg (3 pcs) -251 mounting raer inner fender plastic from bottom to frame bottom..

Those are all for M6 screws, and used in pairs, except one,  I'm sure I missed a couple somewhere.

Didn't want to just leave this hanging out there.  I checked the gas tank bolts even removing them to be sure and the bushings are still in the rubber but they are very close in thickness and size unless it is an extra that fell out after ten years and 40K miles while in my driveway I have no idea what it is.  The only fairing panel that I removed was the small battery access panel and I don't think that the one bolt had anything odd behind it, the bolt has a plastic washer and a shoulder on it to line up the panel to the hole/bolt.  I'll hang on to it, perhaps to will become more obvious to me at some point later.  Thank you all for your help/suggestions.   ;D

You know, come to think of it I did remove all of the stuff in the battery tray area while cleaning the electrical connections.   I removed the plastic tray and adjusted the wires several times before I got it right.  Maybe there was one of those babies extra laying in there all this time and my cleaning/messing with that area dislodged it?

There are a couple that are used to mount the ABS pump in there(which I missed...doh), but its not unlikely that during assembly, nwhen the stuff is being assembled at lightening speed... :rotflmao:  Yoko Sockytumi may have dropped one, and simply carried on..
No big deal... if you start finding bolts on the ground... well,  I ain't gonn go there... :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
