Putting saddlebags on a rocket makes it....  a rocket with saddlebags.  Where's the driveshaft?  Where's the sport-touring ergos?  Just MHO.

True that, but it shows where Kawi's priorities are and where they are going. You engineer adding the cruise to the H2 after it was first released (who the heck that owns an H2 asked for bags and cruise? really?? reeeeaally?? ) but yet you can't will not for the Connie......yeeeaahhh.

Kaw made huge changes to the versys 1000 too... This is the new direction for sport touring. BTW, I have a v1000... I wish it had a shaft drive, but I "get" the reason this is the new direction of sport touring. Steve

It puzzles me why more motorcycles don't go with shaft drive. You could not get me to buy another chain drive bike if you held me down and poured syrup on me and put me in an ant bed.

It goes back to performance.
They feel the market is more concerned with sport/performance than touring/comfort.

Oh come on Rich, I think you of all folks could get on board with it since you paid like $15k for one of the first C14's.

The new H2 SX SE ("H2 Sexy") are now being marked downed due to poor sales, I've found some for $18k and yes I am actually thinking about getting one. Supercharged, cruise control, LED lights, fuel modes, traction control modes, etc etc etc... Good luck trying to add all those things to a C14 and still be under that cost. To me it seems very reasonable given what you get in return. IMO Kawi is listening, yes power rules over everything, and yes cruise control is awesome for LD riding. For less than the price of a new Wing yes I would buy the H2 Sexy, tons of great tech on that bike, thank you Kawi!  :great: :great:

:)) :truce: :nananana: :truce: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I hear ya Jay,
I did pay for the first year model, but it was $14,230, and pretty much held that price every where for a while, accept in Canada, where they really put the hurt on the wallets...

I like the SX'y bike, don't get me wrong, It's kind of a niche market thing...

I just hate the thought of Kaw, ditching a perfectly great machine that was built with us in mind, because they can... and say "but they all wanted the new thing"..
and face it, it ain't a 'cross country tour comfy bike', especially 2 up... with a weeks worth of clothes and gear.
Forced obsolescence from Kaw is the last thing I want to see, this soon in the bikes history.

Well look at the bright side, if they drop the C-14 that will help new FJR sales since there will still be folks wanting a shaft drive sport tourer.

They have to be struggling to maintain selling bikes in the stratosphere of what most motorcyclists will pay...

The H2 SX SE, that I was honored to take out for it's first test drive, is still on the dealer sales floor.
That was May 2018!
Dealer says their customer base isn't interested in spending $20kfor a supercharger with Versys bags

I think Kawasaki has once again misjudged the market. They do it every 4 or 5 years. I'm sure there is some millennial in a corner office that has a computer graphics degree pumping out these go fast with zero comfort ideas. But I agree they are pricing a lot of riders out of the market. With the power that the zx-14 and C-14 have why would you need a supercharger. Come on momma Kaw, make something with shaft drive, a comfortable seat and nice bags. Despite what you think there is still a market out there for just that.

Poor sales because it's a performance bike dressed up as a tourer.
If that floated anyones boat you'd see ZX10Rs, CBR1000RRs, R1s, GSXR1000s, etc. with sidebags and trunks and tall screens,... but you don't do you?
BMW seem to be selling plenty of R1200RTs and K1600GTs though.
Ageing rider population needs comfy bikes, not impossible to ride for more than 1hr crotch rockets.

Hey Boom, hope all is well buddy!  :beerchug:

Actually yes I do see quite a bit, especially on the sport bike forums.

The ergo's on the H2 Sexy are actually quite good Rich, rake diff between C14 and H2 Sexy are 24 vs 26, not much at all, add some bar risers if you choose and ride!  :motonoises:  :great:

Must be a UK vs US difference. On the roads here ya see lots of big ST bikes, lots of big dual sport bikes, lots of naked retro bikes, and lots of cruisers. Sport bikes are getting rarer. You do see more in the summer or at weekends, but they almost never have bags or a trunk.

Global sales of the RT make it one of their stronger sellers. I'm not sure of K16 sales figures, but I see an awful lot of them.

I would hate to see the C14 go away. Kawasaki consciously chose not to continue refining this bike and as a result, the FJR has surpassed it overall, particularly since the 6-speed FJR debuted. Sure an FJR1300ES is a couple grand more, but by the time I added MC Cruise I had nearly spent FJR13ES money and without ESA.

I'm probably going to go to an FJR13ES in a year or two unless Kawi gives the C14 some of the attention and upgrades it has bestowed on the Versys 1000.

I too have a Versys 1000, and they are changing it significantly for 2019.  The SE LT will have cruise  control, Showa electronic suspension,  shift assist (clutchless shifting), a new TFT display, ( quote from the literature, "Taking a page out of the H2SX SE's playbook, the SE LT+features a strikingly similar dash".  it has throttle by wire, a 6 axis IMU which means that the suspension and traction control now will be active in cornering.  AND, the list price is going to be--------$18000.  Kawasaki seems to think this is the way the market is going.  I don't usually appear on this C 14 forum, I am a member or COG, an ex C10  owner.  I was just curious as to whether Kawi was going to upgrade the C 14 with some of these goodies.  maybe, as some of you suggest, Kawi is not interested in the C14 anymore.  I gather a lot of you won't go for the fancy Versys because it doesn't have shaft drive, which would be real nice, but I somehow don't think that is in the cards.
