gear indicating on 2008

my 2008 has a issue displaying the gear i am in. it is blank or wrong and i tap the shifter some and i can get it correct like the device that codes the gear input is dirty.

did anyone else deal with this?

The gear position sensor is right near the gear shift lever.  They can fail or just get gunked up and not read reliably.  Pull the unit, clean it up.  If that doesn't help, replace it.

I had a similar problem on my 09.  The indicator would stick.  I'd make the shift and it wouldn't change unless I lightly toed the shifter again, or just waited.  After a minute or so it would change on its own.  I made the change to Mobil 1 motorcycle specific racing oil (which you can get at Autozone) and it immediately.....and I do mean immediately cured it.  Haven't had a problem with it sticking since......may be worth a try.  Hope this helps!  Brian :beerchug:
