UPDATED 2/23/2013
UPDATED INFO 2/23/2013

just got off the phone with Pete, and he would like to thank all of you for your devoted trust, and patronage.
You have helped him acheive the #8 spot in the U.S.A. Kawasaki dealerships...
Kudos to all!!! ;)

Pete asked me to stress that if you send him an e-mail with all your info, PLEASE LEAVE A NUMBER HE CAN CALL YOU BACK AT, so he can securely get your charge card # that is the fastest and most efficient method for purchasing the GTPP.
He applogised for some of the missed calls, but folks need to understand he is not always there to recieve a call, so the e-mail with a callback number is still the best way to accomplish this timely
.

Also, I need to update the info needed to:

"if you do not include payment info in your email, please list a day time
phone number that the dealership can call you to obtain the payment info"

Hows this for a screaming deal!!!  He will also offer this special to other
models from Kawasaki too for june and July ONLY!

Jump on this folks...
I think there is going to  be a price increase August 1st
.[/size]

follow the instructions:

$339.00 FROM MY FRIENDS AT ULTIMATE CYCLE:

"Hi  Rich,
Thanks for your help. Kawasaki will send out the gtpp policy and we will
send via us-mail the paid receipt showing purchase date of the product.

PRIOR TO CALLING: Here is what I need to know from each one via e-mail. Getting this
information over the phone causes too many mistakes. However, for those that
do not wish to transmit their credit cards electronically,
they may call in*** their cc # to 804-330-4800 and my extension is 110. ***  "

Email to:    sales(at)UltimateCycle(dot)NET
remove the (at) and (dot), and do symbols.....

*Registered Name:
*Address:
*City:
*State:
*Zip code:
*Phone:
*Year , make , model , color:
*VIN#:
*Current mileage:

***Credit card type - MC/Visa/Amex:
***Credit Card #:
***Expiration Date:
***Sec Code on back of card (front for Amex):

"if you do not include payment info in your email, please list a day time
phone number that the dealership can call you to obtain the payment info"

We will charge the $339.00 to their card and send the credit card receipt
and invoice to the listed address. We will electronically register the GTPP
which will take effect 10 days after we register. We do register daily, so
there is no delay at all.

Also, we will beat any deal on new Concours'
Thanks again,

NOTE: THIS OFFER APPLIES TO OWNERS IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S.A. ONLY, AND EXCLUDES FLORIDA RESIDENTS BY FLORIDA LAW.

ALSO NOTE, THIS OFFER IS ONLY VALID WHEN PURCHASED OVER THE INTERNET, OR SPEAKING PERSONALLY TO PETE DANIALS DIRECTLY VIA TELEPHONE....

I have to admit, and with great sincerity to my club, all i did was contact my dealer and open a portal...
I have a great sense of ownership when a dealer steps up, and sticks his neck on the line, especially when he trusts my (past/current) position with the group... I can only thank him greatly, and assure him that his effort, and generosity to our group, will be returned tenfold in response by us as  a whole... that my friends is all I can do.
my desire to find an outlet that will give me what I consider an acceptable outlet for what we need, as a group, has been shared. grab it up, and best wishes to y'all, I hope to see you on the road...

oh yeah, if you are in the neighborhood, stop in there and thank Pete man to man, shake his hand, and introduce youself as a true COG'r..... that's what WE do...spread the word.
and again to coin a phrase I wrote a few times..."here's the free prize, in every box..."

note: I've had this posted on "the other site" for years, to compile a database of peoples and questions/answers, this was all lost in the transition, but I have retained much of it.
I'm posting it here now to make sure I can share this for as long as my pal Pete continues to offer it.... I believe at last count he has provided over 150 of us with this great price.

UPDATED 3/28/2012
I will add, In conversation today, Pete has specifically told me that IF you bought the bike NEW, and are THE ORIGINAL OWNER who ALREADY HAS a GTPP in effect, HE CAN and WILL be able to add additional time for the additional costs, another 36 months, but I think it is a few bucks more....still cheap.!!!!!

That's a great deal. Any C14 owner planning on keeping their bike past the OEM warranty should take advantage of this deal!

Even if you don't it seems like it would add value for resale on the private market; especially on a complicated piece like the c14.

I bought into this last year and it's already paid for itself. I had my front rotors replaced under the GTPP just this last week.
Thanks to MOB for setting this deal up!

Yes. The factory warranty must still be in effect to purchase an extended warranty.

Well I thought I was satisfied with my purchase yesterday from Ultimate, but now I am a bit unhappy.  They charged me $385 for the extended warrenty (albeit still a good price for the warranty, but why charge me more!).  I am going to call them on Tuesday and see what they have to say.  Maybe I will get lucky and they will credit me the difference towards my 500-mile break-in service.

I wouldn't bust balls too much, that's still almost half of what KHI would charge and a quarter of what some dealers ask.

I know, but it just bugs me when dealers are not up front with what they charge.   Don't get me wrong, I am happy with the deal on my Connie, just a pet peeve of mine.

Just looked at my account, $339 is all I was charged and just yesterday.  Sounds like a mistake on their part.  Reference me if you like.

BEFORE you start busting Pete's Balls here in public, you had better make a telephone call to him....
I have records of over 100 people purchasing this plan from Ultimate thru the old forum, and brought this deal over here to share... I know Pete personally, and worked with him to get this deal. He would not knowingly change up on me without letting me know, I have to assume you did not talk to him, YOU need to call and go over it before bashing him publicly....please.

<--newly registered member but have been following the forum intermittently since I purchased my 2008 Connie, new.
Finally have some time to take her out on a real trip and need to renew the GTPP before it expires at the end of July. I understand that Florida plays by its own rules and I wanted to ask whether this renewal offer applies here. [In particular, the price & coverage].

I'm pre-planning a ride to NY and could drop-into an out-of-state dealership (to renew) but would prefer the option listed above.

Also, I'd appreciate suggestions for best (magnetic) tankbag and a good (soft) tailbag for the luggage rack. [I'm using a Cortech at the moment but would like to "double-up" the back bags for tripping.

Thanks, in advance, and I'll look forward to participating in the forum.

I like the Chase Harper 650 magnetic tank bag. It fits the bike better than just about every magnetic tank bag I've seen. I also use a Bags Connection rear seat bag on my bike. Here's a picture with both the Chase Harper 650 tank bag and Bags Connection rear seat bag on my bike.

This offer is not available to us. However I purchased another three years through Sky Powersports in Lake Wales for $440 plus tax. That's still a better deal than going straight though KHI.

Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing Ultimate, just was curious why he would not be up front with me during the sales.  Granted I worked with one of his salemen and not Pete directly, but I was told this was the deal that Pete was offering me.  I took the bike in yesterday for the 500-mile service and had a great experience.  Even on a last minute drop off, they were willing to get me in.  I asked my salesman to check with Pete and he said he would get back to me, as Pete was out yesterday.  I will update once I hear back.

p/m answered.
best of luck.

To everyone else,
Please deal directly with PETE, by e-mail, or better yet, by phone if you have questions.
Do not deal with anyone else there, on the extended warranty, untill we get the 'misunderstanding' here cleared up.

As requested, I am now ready to share my results regarding the extended warranty.  I spoke with Pete today and he stated there was nothing he would do for me.  He is only offering the deal if you come to him via email and follow "to the letter" the protocol listed, as this is an internet offer only for current owners of the bike.  He stated he would not offer the deal in his store due to overhead costs?

Oh well, I am still happy with my bike and hopefully I never need the warranty but it is nice to know I have it just in case.  I am not posting this to warn people away from Ultimate Cycle, just be aware that you have to realize this is an internet forum only offer and you must follow instructions to the letter.  As it has been stated, many owners have benefited from this offer and I hope Pete continues to do the same in the future for others.  I am trying to remember the old adage, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all...

Post by: MAN OF BLUES on June 17, 2011, 03:21:02 pm
That makes sense to me, as he did go out on a limb making the offer for ONLINE purchase for us. He did open it further to include a "safer" alternative for giving the credit card payment discretely over the phone after all the data has been forwarded to him. I can't say anything bad, as he is doing the "filing work" himself, and therefore CAN give a lessor price, than if he had to have an employee (on a payroll) do the work...
it was all outlined, and I did not realize initially that you went in the store to purchase this.

It's no different then the way Virginia has gone when you want to get license plates renewed these days, if you go into the bureau for purchase, you pay a higher price than you do when you purchase online.... I guess the "puter-age" is coming full circle.

SB

You have to watch out for prices you pay for extended warrantys, protection packages and in house financing.
I was in car sales years ago and both the dealer and the salesman make more money on the add ins than on the sale of a new vehicle.
doubleing the price on warranty packages is common and adding 1% to the finance rate goes straight into the dealers pocket. As a salesman I could make more on the deal on the post sale stuff than the sale itself.
Don’t be shocked just don't let them nail ya.

IF you are giving a mailing address in the USA that is not in Florida, and the BIKE is in the USA, and was purchased in the USA, I can't see why not, but if you answer no to any of those I'd say you are out of luck.

i believe it is noted in post #1
yes, you will recieve a receipt, and formal GTPP documents showing term  in the mail within a week of completing the transaction with Pete.
He will be doing this as long as he can, has been doing it for us for about 2 years, and untill he gets tired of doing it he will continue.
He isn't making big profit on the sale so to speak, but it does place him higher on the Kaw list of "good dealers" within the company, which i believe is his motivation.

Just so I'm clear: This is an extension of an additional three years to the three year factory warranty? Purchasing it will give you a six year warranty?

That is correct, it can be purchased any time prior to your factory 36 month expiring, but you need to know when it really will expire before you decide to wait till the last minute.
Also consider that kawasaki, and or any dealers selling the GTPP can raise the price at any time....best to get it before it goes up.

I just purchased my 08' with 922 miles on it in Las Vegas in May and paid way to much for an aftermarket warranty. Does anyone know of a different warranty company to use other than RPM One. I would like to take advantage of the factory extension, but i don't think the factory warranty was still in effect when I bought my unit. Is there someone trustworthy to contact to check into the factory warranty. Our dealers here in Tulsa Oklahoma don't even do all the proper warranty maintenance that is required under the warranty policy!! Can't trust them out here in this neck of the woods. Any info would be great!  :)

any reputable Kawasaki dealer can plug the vin into thier system and tell you purchase date to find out if the original warranty is expired. If it is not, you can still contact the dealership I noted in this post for the extension.  I suppose you could even call Pete (the number is in the first post) and even ask him....he's a friendly person, and if he was going to sell you an extension, he would check for you....

While on the Kawasaki website, make sure you update the "new owner" info. You will have to provide them a copy of the bill of sale  or current state registration. They will accept it in snail mail, fax or scan and email.that way your name shows as the owner when you go to the dealer. Also updates thier system for customer mailings i.e. recalls.

Called the Dealer I bought my bike from in Fort Worth, Texas (Honda Kawasaki West) and asked if they would match this price and they said yes.  Also, they noted I could get a four year deal with the same coverage and road side assistance for around $450. The four year is an outside vender.  Just call your dealer and note that your a member of COG and let them know about this great deal. Mine did not think twice about matching.

Extended warranty sales by third party companies is on the rise, i caution people about the thing you have brought up here, this supposed 4 year with added roadside assistance.... it may sound good, but tryig to get Kawasaki to honor it in the same way they honor thier specific and internal corporate extension may be a problem...you never know till you try to use it, and then....?
Did you actually purchase that program? if so, please share the details of it with us all here when you get the paperwork from them, the GTPP is the only plan Kawasaki offers, anything else is a gamble as to the extents of the coverage. GTPP on the C14 is only 36 months.
thanks for the heads up.

Sounds like a great deal on the 3 year extended warranty.   Just wondering if there's any dealer out there offering the same deal for us residents of Florida?

Thanks,

Went to "Honda Kawasaki West " in Fort Worth, TX and purchased my extended 3 year for $ 339.00.  No hassle at all. Ask for Cody and he will take care of you.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I was able to get the same price for my GTPP at Kawasaki Sports Center in Little Rock AR. The owner was not too happy that I knew of the discounted price, and he told the salesman that his normal commission would not apply, but he sold me the plan. He also indicated that $55 is better than zero $, so- do the math. The plan evidently costs the dealer $284. I personally think that $55 is a reasonable profit for the dealer-they have no money invested in the product.

interesting, and I'm glad you got a good deal also.
I have spoken with Pete on the warrenty, and seeing as he is the dealership owner, he would not reveal the "actual cost to the dealer", which I had no problem with when he met the best price i could find online, and still continues to do so. As he is the direct contact for the issuance of the paperwork in the deal, he has no problem with selling them low, and it all boils down to "total monthly sales" relating to satifying Big K, so he does not "pay" an employee to do the paperwork for it... when it all boils down, it's a 10 minute procedure to fill out the application and take payment....probably equivalent to anyone ordering a part at the parts counter....and that doesn't require further employee participation because it's all sent to you in the mail in a couple days.

I can respect a dealer for admitting that he has to make a profit, and that he cannot match the price, but this thread proves to me that the above mentioned dealer is being less than honest about pricing on the GTPP. (Re-read my earlier post on this thread for my evidence of the cost of the GTPP. I know, I know - it is anecdotal evidence to everyone else, but I did this deal myself, so I know what I heard from my dealer, and at $339, he said that he was making $55.

Yes, I read your post and knew the dealer was less than honest, If the dealer had been upfront and
And said I can’t do it for $339.00, but I can for $369.00, I would have paid the extra just to help
Out a local dealer.

Thanks for the information.

when I got Pete to commit to a $339 price for everyone that contacts him, he did not reveal any ACTUAL costs, and frankly I have no problem with that, I expect that NO dealer would, or should for that matter...it would only serve to besmirch the fact someone is selling low.
I would question his intent for telling a price on that basis, and even though he met the price, you are still dealing with the assumption of what he told you...unless he showed you his price book.
It's all good, don't get me wrong, the true mark we need to make clear here is "how many dealers will continue to sell the plan to anyone calling in (with exception of restricted states, Florida to be specific) , and hold true to his word for over 3 years without exception"...?
I have no problem with the price Pete holds true on, and do not care that he may be making a simple and small profit margin.... no matter what, his price holds true, and has for a long time, the sign of a dedicated and honest dealer.
thanks for sharing, :beerchug:

I told my dealer about this deal, and they literally got offended.  Seems they make a good deal off of the actually warranty sale, and they barely break even doing warranty repair work.  I think they were unhappy with another dealer selling them at 30 bucks over cost and his dealership not haveing to do the warranty work except for the ones sold in their area.

I like the guys at my local shop, and want them to do well, so I am torn on the issue.  They may not make much on the warranty work (which may never even happen), but they will (and do) get plenty out of me for accessories and maintence.  So it really shouldn't "hurt" them minus the $$$ they intended to make on the Warranty itself...

I thought I would pass on the deal for the extended warranty for $339.00 is still a go and it’s painless. I got in the mail today the paperwork from Kawasaki stating my Good Times Protection Plan expires 12/12/14. Thanks MOB and Pete for a good deal and the hard work to give us a little more time to warp those rotor’s. Just kidding, but still a heart felt thanks.

So yes Front Runner, the deal is still on. Just follow MOB's instructions.  ;) By the way, it seems when ever I lead the group, I'm the front runner. heh, heh  :rotflmao:

Just wanted to pass this on,  my '08 factory warranty expired in 2010, prior owner bought a two year extended warranty that would have expired in July 2012.  I called Pete to see about purchasing just the third year of the extended warranty.  He let me know he could sell me a three year extension of the GTPP  for the quoted $339 price.  Got the paper work back from Kawasaki and now my '08 has factory warranty until July 2015.

Picked up my Concours14  a couple of days ago. It's an '08 and obviously is out of warranty. The dealership told me I could get a 2 year warranty thru Kawasaki for $680.00, then I came here and read about the possibility, even if the bike is no longer under factory warranty, of getting a three year GTPP for about the same amount, maybe a bit more. Got Pete's number and I'll give him a call on Monday to see if there's any truth to that. I hope it is...

So I extended my original warranty in this $339 deal.  Thanks!

That said, my 2008 was in for warranty work and a valve check this week and Kawi was offering to extend my GTPP warranty for 1 yr @$218, 2 yr @$265 or 3 yrs @$302.
Only applies to those already in the GTTP program.  The printout in the message section mentions a GTPP renewal program for existing members with the prices above @50% off 'retail'

Anyone ever seen this before?  My dealer hadn't seen it before but it's on the K-Dealer.com webpage they print up to check for messages, recall bulletins, warranty claim history, etc....  Gave me a copy of it and its clearly a dealer page to track info on your bike.  Unfortunately no key code on file for my bike which I bought used with 3k miles on it  :(

I am shocked that I could cover my bike for a total of 9 yrs for a total of $641 because I ride the snot out of it.  20k miles per year or more would make this a no brainer since the original GTPP program has more than paid for itself already (2 new rotors, TPMS, Valve cover gasket,etc...)

I opted for that when I bought my '09 as I plan on keeping since I don't like linked brakes so no new connie for me at this time.

I know it will come in handy for those TPMS that need to be replaced.  Even if I use it for them it will almost pay for itself

I am not sure if this deal is legit. According to Kawasaki, the dealership issuing the extended coverage must inspect the bike. This is a requirement as per Kawasaki. I don't want to offend anybody by my harsh comments, but I don't think is legal from a dealership, other than the one that can actually inspect the bike, to issue all these extended warranties. I know you guys like it because is very little money and everybody loves a good deal, but let me reiterate; I do not think is legal.  And if the moderators fret over somebody posting a link for a shop manual in pdf format they should take a hard look at this topic as well. Have you guys gone to your local Kawasaki dealership and inquire about this? Chances are you bought your bike locally, some of you from the dealership, and they need your business just as much as some dealership hundreds or thousands of miles away that has absolutely nothing to do with your buying experience. Just a thought...

Gary, trust me, I do understand where you're coming from. With just a few exceptions I bought my bikes from dealerships, and like you I value my local motorcycle businesses. When I bought the C14, which was about a month ago, I chose to get an extended GTTP warranty. I got a three years deal for a little bit over eight hundred dollars. I am ok with it since I know that Ultimate Cycle is breaking the rules set by Kawasaki Co., plus I've been having this great relationship with the people at the dealership who wouldn't hesitate for a second to bend backwards, if necessary, in order to accommodate  me. They already have! I can't put a price on that. They more than make up for the difference in price. I believe I did the right thing.

"Pre-Owned GTPP is available on certain street motorcycles and ATVs with specific mileage and time limitations. Check with your dealer to find out if the vehicle you want qualifies for Pre-Owned GTPP. A warranty inspection is required as well. You can only buy Pre-Owned GTPP at the time you buy the qualified and inspected motorcycle or ATV."

What I was referring to was GTTP purchased after the factory warranty had expired. If let's say I buy a Kawasaki motorcycle from an authorized Kawasaki dealer and the bike is out of the factory warranty I can still purchase an extended warranty,  but the bike needs to be inspected by the selling Kawasaki authorized dealership  to see if it qualifies. In this case you can't have a dealership from Montana selling you a pre-owned GTTC when you live in Georgia. That would break the rules set by the Kawasaki Co.

JUst took my 08 to my local dealer to get an oil leak looked at and to check out their price for the extended warranty as my original expires in April. They shot me a price of around $650 for 3 years, I mentioned the $339 deal here, told them I would rather pay them for the warranty as they would be the dealership I will be using, and I like trying to keep things somewhat in my own community. The sales manager did a little "looking" (who knows), but within 2-3 minutes was more than happy to give me the same deal.
As the dealer that guys go thru on here to get this deal has surely helped many riders get this warranty, I have to believe that if you have any kind of relationship at all with your local dealer, that they would be more than happy to match the price and keep you coming in their door.
So great to have all of this info at our fingers and a community willing to share it. I hope everyone is having as great an experience with their bike as I am mine.

DUDE
Please step back and listen for a second, I know you don't know me from Batman, but I have to say you know very little about the bike, and the Kawasaki support network...I do.
I Posted / Started this thread, and followed it up from the beginning. Please do not tell people Pete is doing something "not legit" from Virginia, all over the U.S.A. (exception of Fla.)
You are completely out of line, and bordering on laying down a Libel suite for yourself there with those words.Any bonifide dealer of Kawasaki product, as a representative of Kawasaki Corporation, can sell the GTPP.
Pete, and Ultimate Cycle, his business, are High ranking Black belt dealer folks.  As far as your opinions, you are welcome to "express" them, and you are also welcome to spend $800 any way you please.....(insert PT Barnam quote..) you actually go "served" by the trusted dealer you got this from....you paid $200 more than KAWASAKI wants for the GTPP (I assume you didn't get the paperwork from Kaw, extending THIER price....) :-[
Now, with regard to purchasing an extension for a second or third party sale of the bike, if the original 36 month factory warrantee HAS NOT expired, there is no reason you would have to take the bike in for an inspection. We have numerous people here that have attached the GTPP, purchased from Pete, to a bike they bought used, within the first 36 months.
As for purchasing a GTPP after the 36 month original paper expires, this is the only time "inspection" may come into play, and specifically for the benefit dealerships that may have taken a bike in on a trade, and it may have sat and expired. You cannot go in with an expired original warrantee, and get an extension, inspection or not...ain't a happenin', sorry.

As of right now, I know of no documented way, that a second 36 month extension can be gotten, and am awaiting response from my inside connections at Kawasaki, and also from Pete.

Ride safe.

Man of Blues,  I seriously doubt you've read every post in the thread you had started, because if you had, you wouldn't have written the last post. At least not in the way you went about it.
You should have  shown some restraint in passing out judgement on how little or how much I know about the bike or the Kawasaki Support Network, since I don't know you from Batman and you don't know me from Joker. I liked your "tact" and  "precision" in making sure I was going to get your point no matter what. You should change your name to Sherlock and help the Kawasaki police force catch and prosecute Calboy, a well known character of the Underworld and a repeat offender. Do me a favor and go over what I've written in "the thread you have started", for as many times as it may be necessary for you to get a grasp on things before addressing me with "DUDE" and making unfounded threats. They don't make you popular and they don't scare me either.   Go over my next to last post and read it carefully. And no, please do not reply to this message. I feel like I'm hijacking "your thread".

Another satisfied customer. Arranged for the 3 year extended warranty with a call to Pete at Ultimate. Emailed my moto datails and called with card info on 1/28/2012---received in USPS earlier this week Kawasaki GTPP confirmation letter dated 1/30/2012. Total cost - $339.  Would have posted this earlier but just got back in from 2 wks of vaca. So GHOST now has an addl 3 yr warranty to 5/28/2015.  Woo hooo. Thanks MOB for your posting this info. Hope to meet you one day, shake your hand and buy you a cold beverage.

And like others I did check with my local dealer who was unwilling / unable to match the price.

I personally don't give much credence to all this talk about what's "legal" or not.  This isn't a government regulation.  GTPP is a product sold by Kawasaki - plain and simple.  As long as I get it in writing from Kawasaki, it's a done deal.  I doubt Kawasaki USA cares who sold it for them, either.

Judging by how eagerly my dealer was pushing it at the time I bought my pre-owned '09 C14, it must be a big money maker for the dealers.  I like my local dealer, from whom I've bought 2 bikes in the last 4months, and probably another pretty soon here.  But when they quoted me $750 for the extended warranty and made it sound like a great deal, I am not so inclined to bend over.  They will get reimbursed by Kawasaki for any warranty work I bring to them, regardless of where I bought the GTPP.

My dealer also told me I can buy the extended warranty anytime before the original warranty expires.  I asked them if I need to bring in the bike for inspection if and when I do purchase it, they said no.

I like rewarding a seller that gives me a straight up honest low price, rather than somebody that tries hard to "make love" to me but might match the low price if I can prove another seller's low price.

When I get near the end of the original 3 year warranty, I'll extend it another 3 years. If this deal is still available I'll use it.

What is more important to me is keeping my maintenance contract going, because when you factor in the cost of the contract, you end up saving 50% on all your scheduled services, which is worth doing. But its pretty pricey up front. My dealer just today set me up with an Accounts Receivable (A/R) account so I can make 3 monthly payments (no interest, no collateral) and make it less painful. Over the next 25,000 miles give or take a thousand that will add up to a ton of money saved.

The warranty on my 2008 expires the first part of March so thought I should take some action for a extended GTPP. Called the dealer where I purchased the bike and have the service I do not do myself performed to see what they could do. Said the best they could do and make some money was $420.00 and that was after checking on the price through Ultimate Cycle to make sure it was a valid offer. While I do not mind them making a profit I thought that they already have made the money from the bike sale and what work I have done at there shop so how much more do they need to make off me. Sent the email to Pete and then called with my CC info so it is a done deal. Thanks to Man of Blues and Pete for this deal!

It is legit! My dealer however wanted to claim that the $300 was cost so they said they would sell it to me for $450.
I contacted Pete and he sold it to me for $339.
My 2008 is now covered until 2017!!!!!!   Got the official paperwork from Kawasaki a few days ago!!!

I repeat.  Mine is an '08.  I purchased the extension from Pete (thanks to this thread/forum) to extend it to 2014.  I have now extended it to 2017 through Pete for another $339

You cannot beat that!   9 years of factory coverage for $678.  And I put 15k-20k miles on my bike per tyear.

Attached are both letters received by Kawi after purchasing the 2nd 3 yr-extension.
BTW, my local Kawi dealer originally did not think this was possible but he called Kawi and spoke to them and was surprised to find out it could be extended another 3 years.  Problem was, he wanted $450 and Pete was willing to do it for less.
Before someone slams me for not supporting the local dealership, I have spent $2k on tires and service there over the years in addition to buying a bike.

is that warranty transferable if the bike is sold with it ??? that would really help hold the value

both the factory warranty, and the 36 mo extended GTPP are transferable with the sale of the bike.

I didn't see this covered already in the thread, but it seems you can't get this warranty on a demo bike.  I just bought a 2010 Connie and was planning on buying the GTPP warranty, but it appears this has to be purchased before the factory warranty expires.  Kawi negates/cancels the factory warranty on their demo bikes when they're sold.

I saw a blurb about certain pre-owned vehicles might be eligible for this warranty, but it refers you to the dealer.  I've contacted them and am waiting to see if they can honor it or not.

Really?..that can't be correct, I can't see how they would ever get rid of demos except at a huge loss.
From the demo prices I recall seeing when I was shopping, they may have been taking a loss, but not a HUGE loss.
Sumthin seems amiss here.

It took me by surprise as well.  The guy at the dealership told me Honda does it too.  He said he could put a 24-month Kawi warranty on the bike for about $820, but I told him I'd shop around.  He couldn't tell me why Kawi does what it does, but was very sure that was the case.

**EDIT** I called Kawi customer service to verify the details.  Nate @ CS told me the bike was auctioned to the dealer from Kawi and confirmed it does not have any manufacturer's warranty.  He did say, though, that I could add the GTPP warranty for up to 36 months if I wanted.  Now I just have to get the dealer to agree to the $339 price or go shopping with the dealership listed on this thread.

OK, sorry if I'm  :deadhorse:  but did it seem (your impression from CS) like this was the standard operating procedure with all Kawasaki demos or did you call
Nate with the VIN# and perhaps this was a special deal with this one bike.

Makes me double glad I passed on the 2 demo deals I was offered, and refused to sign the paper work for mine until I saw the actual bike and the ODO.

So what if you're still on your original 3 year warranty and haven't purchased a 3 year extension yet, can you just buy 2 extensions at the same time for a 6 year extension? Or do they need to be purchased separately at different times??

From what the dealer said and from what Nate implied, this is standard practice.   They did confirm they can add the GTPP warranty, and I'm asking them to match the $339.  We'll see where they end up.

I will be on the phone with Kawasaki tomorrow if this turns out to be true.  That would great to have warranty coverage until 2017!

Well if it ain't true than Pete, my local Kawi dealer, the guy my local Kawi dealer spoke to at corporate, the computer program that kicked out my letter showing my coverage extended through 2017 and the K-Dealer.com system that shows my coverage through 2017 are all a pipe dream.....oh, and someone owes me $339 because that too showed up on my VISA statement.

Don't know why it's so difficult to verify.  I emailed Pete and got a response the same day.  Likewise, my dealer verified it with one call.  Go to your local dealer and ask them to print out the K-Dealer.com sheet for your bike like you are bringing it in for service....it will show up in the middle section starting with a bunch of ******
One caveat....mine did say it was a limited time offer and that was in mid- January per my original post. It was listed as 50% off for a limited time.

Heck, I just went into the kawasaki.com website and typed in my VIN for kicks and giggles....confirms 3/15/17

I took the advice on this forum and extended my GTPP for three years with Pete at Ultimate Cycle.  The service Pete provides is topnotch- I had documentation in my mail today from Kawasaki confirming my extended warranty protection- only seven or eight days after talking to Pete!  Don't pay what others are asking, go with Pete for $339.

You were just lucky to do business with a dealer that doesn't try to mark up the GTPP and gouge customers.

MY dealer tried to gouge me for $1,000+ for the extended 3 yr warranty on the 2011 I just bought. So glad I didnt do that and was instead directed to this thread by a COG member open mentioning the warranty. The money I saved paid for my Sargent seat, MC Larry Ram-ball mount, grip puppies and bag liners!

Its stuff like this that makes you really distrust the dealers!

Has anyone recently extended their GTPP for the $340 or a lil more as previously stated in this post? My extended coverage on a 2008 model is due for renewal: March 2013. Searching VIN upon kawi.com resulted in the following:

- Your warranty expired on 03/15/2011.
- Your Good Times Protection Plan expires on 03/15/2013.
- For additional years of worry free riding, you can purchase an extension to your Good Time Protection Plan. If purchased today, this extended coverage extension would cost $469.00 for 12 months, $572.00 for 24 months, $653.00 for 36 months. See your authorized Kawasaki dealer for details.

Any dealer info that would be willing to renew me lower would be greatly appreciated  :)

ok, just spoke with Pete, and he is sooooo pleased withour group participation, he is extending a new and lower price for June and July only....
here's what he had to say:

"With that said, I have a SPECIAL of $319 for the remainder of June and July"

Also, I need to update the info needed to:

"if you do not include payment info in your email, please list a day time
phone number that the dealership can call you to obtain the payment info"

Hows this for a screaming deal!!!  He will also offer this special to other
models from Kawasaki too for june and July ONLY!

Jump on this folks...
I think there is going to  be a price increase August 1st.

this reduced price offer has expired, but you can still take advantage of the $339 offer... :beerchug: :great:

you can still get the GTPP, just not from an out of state dealer...
Florida's laws require a different exclusion in contracts on returns and refunds, which require a different contract, therefore it ain't a Kaw thing, it's a Florida thing...sorry.

One thing I couldn't quite figure out though... is the original factory warranty 3yrs or 4yrs?  According to my GTPP paperwork, it would appear the original warranty lasts for 4yrs after the initial sale date.  Then the GTPP kicks in for 3 mroe yrs after that.

In any case, I'm certainly not complaining.  Just wondering...

I emailed my info to Pete on Monday, 7/30, knowing that they were closed and he would have to process on Tuesday the 31st, the last day of the deal.  I didn't like giving him short notice, but I really didn't want to miss out, either.  He called Tuesday for my CC information and was very gracious on the phone.  I told him I really appreciated the deal he was extending to us, and that I also appreciated his getting back to me on Day Zero.  Nice guy.

Papers arrived the following Saturday.  Recall notice arrived Monday.   :( :( :(

Back to $339.00. Still a rockin' great deal. Just re-upped my '09 this week. Pete was easy to talk to, and as helpful as always. He provides a good service to us C-14 folks.

2009 Connie factory warranty expired 15 August, purchased the extended warranty just prior to that and Boy did it save me.  Fork seals went bad one week after factory warranty expired.  Damaged brake pads, rotors, the fork seal replacement would have cost me about $700.  Thanks Rich for getting this out for everyone!!

I just paid spoke to Pete and paid him the $339.00 for the Kawasaki GTPP 36 month extension.  If I actually receive warranty documents from Kawasaki, I will definitely become a full paying COG member.  It's the least I can do after being charged $599.00 by local dealer where I purchased my Connie.  So I wait and will keep you posted!! :-\ :-\

Has anyone heard from these guys lately?  I sent them a question that was answered quickly, followed up by my order/credit card info in early September, and haven't heard anything back.

I sent a followup email a week ago, and still haven't heard anything.   :'(

I sure hope that it's still on -- I'll post back when I hear back.

you need to follow the instructions in the original post......
You also need to make a call to Pete Danials, especially before coming here and posting that you are not getting response to an e-mail...simply put, YOU need to step up ans make contact with the man. His number is posted.
Also note that you will not reach them on a Monday, as they are closed....Tuesday after 9 a.m. will get you the answers you request.

I'll assist by doing the legwork of placing the number right here for you....

it was all very simply posted as to the procedure. Don't rely on e-mail, it is not always as reliable as we all seem to think.

best of luck,

I DID follow the instructions posted, and didn't get a response for almost a month, even after trying to follow up with them with the method they required me to use in their OP, email  (The OP only said that you needed to call them if you were uncomfortable in putting the CC info in email.)

I didn't slam them, nor say anything disparaging about them.  I just asked if anyone else has heard from them in a while.

And don't give me crap about email being reliable.  It's reliable enough for them to take an order, and charge my credit card.

I totally stand by my original QUESTION.  Had you even read it, you would have seen that I actually did expect to hear something back from them. (note : when I hear back, not "if I hear back")

And, to actually bring this back on-topic...

I never heard anythng from them, but I did receive the paperwork in the mail today.

That's what I was looking for the entire time, so color me happy.

WHoa!!!

I have been reading this thread from page 1 and keep coming back to this post. I do not think I can jump to the end to see how it turns out with out putting in for this extension. Go directly to GO and put the email together. I am so excited.

you pay thru the nose...unfortunatly Florida law is not kind...  sorry. :'(

And is a deal like that available to Canadian residents?

not that I am aware of, again, it is a product of the laws where you live, restricting Kaw from giving you what the 49 lucky U.S. states residents have.

Not sure if this will help some of you, but I just got this from Rizzon Cycle in Middlesex, NJ. They're incredibly nice people to deal with, and they were able to match the price listed on page 1. Pay them a visit at their dealership and they can work out a deal for you. It's certainly a lot easier and safer than e-mailing credit card numbers or waiting on someone multiple states away.

Just walk in and they'll work with you. Rick and Linda (the owners) are really awesome people too, and the shop is an old-school Mom&Pop type of place. So much nicer than these new corporate dealerships.

Thanks also to you for the information, nice to see others offering good prices  :great:

I will ask if you actually purchased the extension from them, or are just responding to something they are saying to you ?...it was not clear in your post.
But with all due respect, for those that simply cannot "walk in" to the NJ store, there is nothing "unsafe" about dealing with Ultimate Cycle, the dealership that is the noted origin of this thread.
They have made the information exchange, and billing, as secure as it gets....you do not give the credit card over the internet...you leave a number where you can be called, and give it verbally to the man filling out the paperwork.

as for the statement "So much nicer than these new corporate dealerships"....
you might want to walk into Ultimate, and talk with Pete... the fellow that has extended this offer to our group for the last 4 years......

man, that just sounded rude. :-[ :-[ :-[

MOB: I did indeed purchase it directly from Rizzon Cycle for $362 with NJ sales tax. I'm waiting to pick up the bike (raining heavily here the past few days, and I'm not going to ride home in the rain on a new bike I'm not familiar with!)

Wasn't trying to bash Ultimate Cycle or anyone else, including big dealerships. In NJ, you either have a few small mom and pop shops, or the giant corporate dealerships that carry 11 different brands, have management that's impossible to deal with, and everything hides behind some corporate monstrosity (I could write a book about my dealings with NJ/NY motorcycle dealers over the past 5 years). I was so turned off of dealers in general, I was ready to buy a used 2009 from a private seller. Only reason I even went in there was to see the 2012 he had listed on his site. They impressed me, so I bought a bike from them. I should say, I am VERY HARD to impress anymore.

Rizzon is literally the owner, his wife, a couple parts guys, and a few techs, that's it. I like that.

No one there asked me to post about this, if anything, I asked them if I could post about the deal, as I had such a good experience with purchasing this bike, that I wanted to send other people there. (Must be an Italian thing: you do good by me, I bring you business!)

The point was, I'm seeing posts here about some people waiting up to a month to get their paperwork. If you're buying new, no problem. If you're a month before the warranty expires, and something goes amiss, well, you're SOL.

If you're in the Northeast, and looking to buy the GTPP, I offer the suggestion to pay them a visit, that's all. Nothing more, nothing less.

...

I hear you. you paid more, + tax (?)
as far as this complete thread runs, and including the thread over on COG-online, there has been only one person that has had a "month wait" and it was directly because they didn't follow direction.
all of the people here, since I set this up....( and anyone that has differnet feeling PLEASE correct me...) has gotten confirmation of thier registration, within 2 weeks of payment. that means Kaw sent them full registration papers....within 2 weeks of actual payment.

let us know when yours arrives.

and thanks again for the new contacts. :great:

Just got the paper in the mail yesterday, so 1 week from purchase of the plan ain't bad.

*VIN#:

Why is Florida excluded in this great offer. Is it because we can rack up more miles than most because of all year riding availability?

Why is Florida excluded in this great offer. Is it because we can rack up more miles than most because of all year riding availability?

Because of FL laws.

In FL, it's considered an insurance policy and therefore the seller has to be a licensed insurance agent in the state of FL.

Pete is very efficient! A called a few days ago and received the paperwork today. Excellent deal that has me covered through 2018. One repair and this thing has paid for itself.
Thanks for setting this up for us all!!  :beerchug:

Got confirmation from Kawasaki welcoming me to the plan. Just beautiful!

I get to test mine. The day before leaving for Idaho Falls, I discovered a final drive leak. I called the dealer there in Idaho Falls and I wasn't comfortable with the answers to my questions. One thing I was told was they did not honor in house warranties. I told them if they pulled up my VIN they would see I have an extended warranty.

I just didn't care for the answers and wasn't sure I wanted to go several hundred miles with a leaky final drive. So I borrowed a bike to go to Idaho Falls. This was a mistake but another story.

This coming Friday I'm trailering my 14 to the closet dealer and leaving it for a week and a half. They will fix my final drive under warranty.

The seal that is leaking is the large rubber one which seals the spline drive. I looked in the service manual to see if I could change this $20.00 seal myself. If I didn't have the extended warranty, I might have attempted to change it but you get to mess with things I'm not so sure I want to mess with.  For example, the book says to heat the plate the seal fits into in oil prior to seal installation so the plate doesn't warp. No direct heat.  TimR

Update #2. Got a call from the dealer yesterday saying parts is on order and they expect to have the bike done next week. Which is good. I bring the old gal home get one last ride and then winterize.

I'm having shoulder surgery on the 27Th and won't be riding for awhile.

sending an e-mail a week after it expires is not the wisest thing to expect to come out well....

as for the preferred method, reading and following the first post, exactly, tends to be the way to go.

I personally just pick up the phone and call, it's the only way to make sure....

As some of you my know, I discovered my final drive leaking the afternoon before I was leaving for Idaho Falls. My 14 did not make the trip.

When I got back from the outstanding National Rally, I got a hold of the nearest dealer to me and gave them my 09 for a week and a half.

Went and picked her up yesterday and the final drive is now dry not leaving a spot on the garage floor or a mess on the wheel and at no cost to me. No fuss no muss. It was a $20.00 seal which seals the spline drive.

So....Thanks to BDF for his talking a friend into providing us with an extended warranty at a reasonable cost.

Since in Canada the 3 yr GTPP warranty is around $1800 (one quote) I decided to call Pete on the slim chance the warranty would be good in Canada....

Just spoke to him and...

I apologize if this has already been asked, but reading thru 14 pages is a bit daunting.

From what I read, it seems this is only available to original owners?  is that the case?  I just picked up my '11.  the dealer I bought it from offered extended warranty for something like $579.  $339 is obviously better, but just need to confirm it's available to me.

thanks!

Hey Dave,

I tried to inquire of them the same thing with no reply, however from my read it seems to apply to us as well.  If you log into Kawasaki.com, where it tells you about your warranty period(s), it also suggests another extension.

As a reminder, I think yours already has one GTPP in place....going for another?

As long as the bike is under warranty and the warranty has been transfered to the new owner, the GTPP offer here is valid.     ....execpt maybe not in Florida.

It's valid in FL also, just not at that price.

In FL, it's considered insurance and needs to be sold by a FL licensed insurance agent.  Since the dealer making the offer is not a licensed insurance agent in FL, we cannot get it at that price.

I can however order it from Kawi directly for over $600!!! >:(

Me personally, I hope to be out of FL by the time the current extension runs out! :)

I'm not sure.  I definitely need to confirm.  During the paperwork, they suggested I buy the plan from them (being the good sales guys that they were....lol), and I told them I wanted to check on this first becuase I knew the price was good.  I'm going to get my VIN and hit up Ma Kaw and see what info I can find on it.

I work in the automotive industry and part of my previous position included Florida.  As I understand it, Florida incorporated specific pricing processes for some types of insurance (and extended warranties were one of those types) that were designed to protect their older residents.  When they did this, they also limited the ability for dealers to discount below a specific level.  The pricing was fixed by the State and high prices, as well as deep discounts were not allowed.

For Florida, I think you will have to live with the higher prices, I had to when we were purchasing the agreements there.

You can purchase an extension as long as there is an active warranty in service. Once it expires, so does your option on renewal.

Just extended my warranty through Pete at ultimate cycle.  Talk about last-minute – the warrantee on my 2011 Concours expires today.

Pete is a good guy to do business with.  All I had to do was write down my mileage on the warrantee extension offer that was sent to me by Kawasaki and give him my contact information and credit card info.  The warranty is transferable if I should decide to sell the motorcycle so I think this is a worthwhile transaction.

Just as confirmation, this deal is still available--just got my final paperwork. It is super easy to do and Pete is great to work with. I emailed my info to Pete (per directions) on Thursday, called him on Saturday to confirm that everything was a go (paid with a Kawasaki Kash reward card and wanted to be sure the transaction went through), and received my paperwork the following Saturday. A great deal with direct step-by-step instructions. Now I only wish my health could be warranted as thoroughly as my bike!

Thanks Pete. Thanks MOB.

I followed the instructions today and got an Email within about 30 minutes saying all was good.  :)) And still $339.00.This will be my second extended three years. Hopefully I will get to use the next three about as often as the first extended three. I think the one time I used it, it paid for it's self. I had a final drive seal start leaking on me. There was no fuss about coverage. I also believe the seal I was thinking about changing myself would have been the wrong seal.

Kawasaki mailed me a letter offering the same exact extended warranty for $730.11. NOT!

Following the instructions I pasted below is a pretty quick way to save a few hundred $.

Wish I had one, already had my rear axle seal replaced although i think the guy who changed my tires somehow damaged it since it didn't leak before and it did after.  Right after.  Now if only I could keep a battery in the damn thing it would be perfect, they only seem to last about a year and a half!

solution to that is the motorcycle battery at cycle gear with lifetime warranty.  or have a friend that works at a kawi parts counter, mine get changed no questions asked.

I got my 3 year extension today from Pete.  I emailed him earlier in the week as per directions in this posting and he called today to get my payment information.  My 2011 C14 will be three years old in about 3 weeks.  I plan to keep it and I think the 3 year extension is good insurance even though I haven't had any warranty issues with it yet in 26k miles.

Still Available. This extended warranty gives you paper work from Kawasaki and if the dealer looks up your Vin# the Extended warranty shows up. I used it once when my final drive started leaking 90 wt. oil. Absolutely painless and no arguments.

Cost since this Spring 2015 when Kawasaki increased the price from the old $339 is $383.

TRANSFER RIGHTS
THIS CONTRACT MAY BE TRANSFERRED, IN CONNECTION WITH A TRANSFER OF THE PRODUCT, TO A SUBSEQUENT OWNER BEFORE THE EXPIRATION DATE WITHOUT PAYMENT OF A TRANSFER FEE. As part of the transfer process, the Product and the Contract must be re-registered in the name of the subsequent Owner within thirty (30) days of transfer and all maintenance records must accompany transfer of the Product for use by the subsequent Owner. Contact any authorized Kawasaki dealer or Kawasaki for assistance with making a transfer.

CANCELLATION
1. The Owner may cancel this Contract at any time, including when a loss of the Product occurs or when the Owner sells the Product without transfer of this Contract. To cancel, the Owner must submit a written request to the Dealer or directly to Kawasaki if the Dealer is no longer doing business.

2. Free Look Period: If the Contract is cancelled within thirty (30) days of the Contract Purchase Date and no claims have been incurred, the Owner will receive a full refund of the Contract Purchase Price.

3. Cancellation by Owner: Except as otherwise provided under “State Specific Provisions” below, if the Owner cancels this Contract more than thirty (30) days, but less than sixty (60) days from the Contract Purchase Date and no claims have been filed, the Owner will receive a full refund of the Contract Purchase Price. If this Contract is cancelled after the first sixty (60) days or if a claim has been filed, the unearned Contract Purchase Price will be refunded, calculated on a pro rata basis. The pro rata refund will be equal to the amount produced by (a) multiplying (1) the Contract Purchase Price by (2) the number of covered months (or portions thereof) remaining under the Contract Term compared to the total number of months under the Contract Term, less (b) a cancellation fee of twenty-five dollars ($25). In the event of cancellation of a financed Contract, the Lienholder identified on this Contract, if any, will be issued a cancellation refund check in its name, as its interest may appear. All refunds will be issued by the Dealer. In the event the Dealer is not currently doing business, contact Kawasaki for refund assistance.

4. Cancellation by Kawasaki: Except as otherwise provided under “State Specific Provisions” below, Kawasaki may cancel this Contract based on one or more of the following reasons: (a) non-payment of the Contract Purchase Price; (b) a material misrepresentation made by the Owner; (c) a substantial breach of duties by the Owner under this Contract relating to the Product or its use; or (d) if at any time during the Contract Term the Product is found not to meet Kawasaki’s eligibility terms of the Contract. Based upon these reasons, Kawasaki reserves the right to deny any pending claim and cancel the Contract. If Kawasaki cancels this Contract, it will refund the unearned Contract Purchase Price to the Owner calculated on a pro rata basis. The refund will be equal to the amount produced by (a) multiplying (1) the Contract Purchase Price by (2) the number of covered months (or portions thereof) remaining under the Contract Term compared to the total number of months under the Contract Term, less (b) a cancellation fee of twenty-five dollars ($25). In the event of cancellation, the Lienholder identified on this Contract, if any, will be named on the cancellation refund check, as its interest may appear.

5. Cancellation by Lienholder: If the Product and this Contract have been financed, the Lienholder shown on this Contract may cancel this Contract for non-payment or if the Product is declared a total loss or is repossessed. This right of cancellation does not confer ownership of this Contract to the Lienholder or otherwise entitle the Lienholder to performance under this Contract.

6. Refund Penalty: If Kawasaki does not pay or credit the refund owed to the Owner within thirty (30) days of Kawasaki’s receipt of Owner’s written cancellation request, a ten percent (10%) penalty per month will be added to the refund owed.

DAMAGES LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS
Unless otherwise prohibited by law, Kawasaki’s liability for breach of this agreement shall not exceed the value of repairs (including parts and labor) found to have been improperly or wrongfully denied. KAWASAKI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF PROFITS OR INCOME, LOSS OF USE OF THE PRODUCT, EXPENSE OF RETURNING THE PRODUCT TO AN AUTHORIZED KAWASAKI DEALER, PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGES TO PROPERTY. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THESE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

TL:DR  Just to verify that I read all 12 pages correctly:

This deal is still offered through Pete in Richmond, and the new price is $380;
It can be purchased twice to increase warranty by 6 additional years;
The warranty can be transferred to a new owner;

This is all correct?  Thanks in advance.

I just got my extended warranty card from Kawasaki today. It's now called KPP "Kawasaki Protection Plan" & I got it threw Pete, It's now $383 & covers 3 more years so my 2012 is now covered till Jan 2019 !. According to my paperwork it includes emergency road service with Flat tire towing service to tow to the nearest tire repair facility with a max coverage of $250 for all services, Battery Jumper service with max coverage of $100, Delivery service of Gas, oil or water and other accessories & supplies with owner covering cost of the supplies delivered, Towing service if bike is disabled to destination of owners choice for a max cost of $250. So for a 3 year warranty extension with emergency road service for $383 how can you go wrong !!!!!!!. THANKS PETE  :beerchug:

Is there ANY REASON to believe that the ability to extend my warranty will not be offered anytime soon??

I still have 1 year left on my OEM warranty ('12 purchased new in March of '14) and I'd really rather not spend $400
right now! ;-)

...no guarantees, I understand - just looking for educated opinions...

thanks guys.

the KPP prolly won't disapear, but the reduced pricing Pete has provided to us has no gurantee day to day, personally id take advantage of it as soon as possible, as if it does change, you will be paying 2x as much downstream.

I know it's likely somewhere in the 12 pages of this thread, but can somebody tell me if this can be purchased in advance to extend existing coverage?  Asking because I bought my 2015 in January 2016, so I'm covered till Jan. 2019 as I understand it.  Can I buy KPP now, or is it best to wait till a few months before expiration of the existing warranty?  Any reason to wait?

Thanks guy...sorry for the repeat question.

I believe that you can purchase at any time and specify the start date.  Having said that, why would you want to put out the money for something that you won't use for almost 3 years?  What if you sell the bike, or wreck it, or have a health issue, or or or before the extended coverage even starts?  Money wasted.

What if this great price is not available in 3 years or Kawasaki decides not to allow someone to Stack up to 9 years of warranty on a motorcycle which I still can't believe they do ?. All good reason to get it while the getting is good  :beerchug:

exactly.
and I will clarify, you can buy it now, and it only goes into effect the day your current plan expires... but, that is good... no possibilty of a lapse... and, the day you get the paperwork showing it's gone thru ( like a week from buying it), you CAN buy another one if so desired..

I find the price something to be stressed if you decide to sell the bike also, you can recoup that cost on your sale price easily, but as a lot of us see, buying a used bike, without any possibility of extending a plan that expired has some folks passing up on the sale, for one that has covereage :truce: :great: :great:

Did you re up prior?.. is the reup still in service?

Depending on purchase date, which starts the clock on oem warrenty, an extension pops it for 3 years more...a second extension adds 3 more years...
Calculate from purchase point...
If you did 2 updates, you are done... but call anyways, because I wanna know if Pete can slip another one in.... mine expires next month, for my 7/7/07 purchase..

Ownership doesn't matter, the plans follow the bike, not the owner.

But, there has to be a current as in unexpired, plan still covering it in order to add an extension. It can be the original 36 month plan, or an extension, but it has to be unexpired in order to add another.

2 extensions may be added to the original plan. And then no more can be added.

Also note that the OEM plan does not start until the first sale of the bike, so leftover new bikes on showroom floors are still considered new, and the plan begins when it is sold.

You don't have to wait for the second to be almost up.

But yes, you can add TWO extensions for a total of 9 years of warranty coverage.

I sent e-mails to Pete requesting the price of a Kawasaki extended warranty on my new ZX-14R but never heard back.  When I had previously contacted him regarding the C-14 warranty I had to follow-up a couple times to finally get an answer.  I called the Kawasaki dealership in Irving, TX this week and got a great price - 4 years for $405 on the ZX-14R.  While I was at it, I bought a 3 year extended warranty on my C-14 for $350.

They have been a Kawasaki dealership since 1969 and that's still all they sell.  Talk to Phil (Manager - he has been there since it opened 37 years ago) and he'll take good care of you.  He's great to deal with...

All,
In case you were not aware of this.  The GTPP extended plans purchase will be refunded to you if unused and the bike is totaled. They will prorate if there is time used off of the term. I received a refund for my unused time on my 2012 after I totaled it out.

Note that even if you get rid of the bike, any remaining GTPP warranty is transferable to the new owner.  When I got my 2012 there were still 18 months of warranty left.  I filled out a form on the Kawasaki web site informing them that I owned the bike (a good idea regardless since they use that to send out recall notices also) and they sent me a warranty card in the mail.  Remaining warranty is a big plus from a buyer standpoint.

I was just about to email Pete D. to extend my warranty on my 12.
But now I see a 4yr ext. for $405, which seems to be a better deal -- BUT, will I only be eligible for an additional 2 year extension when that 4 yr extension runs out in 2021?
Not even sure I'll still have the bike by then, but always good to be prudent about such purchases!

thanks for the feedback!

I believe Steve J got a 4 year warranty on his Versys, not his C-14.  As far as I know, the maximum C-14 warranty from Kawasaki is for 3 years each time.  Apparently Kawasaki  maximum year extensions are different for some models.  I did get a 4 year factory extension on my ZX-14R at Irwin, TX Kawasaki for $405.  FWIW, I also got the 3 year factory extension there on my C-14 for $350.  Both of my extensions were from Ma Kawasaki and not other companies.

So VA dealership now lists 3yr ext for C14 @ $383, and the TX dealership is $360 for the same?

Is there TAX involved in this transaction?  Wondering why one store is offering cheaper, and what would dissuade me from taking the cheaper option is they are both same warranty offered from Mama Kaw??

Thanks guys.

In November I paid $350 for my C-14 3 year factory Kawasaki warranty extension at Irwin TX Kawasaki.  No sales tax.  Truly an "out the door price" and they are great to work with!  They have been an exclusively Kawasaki dealership since 1969.

The 10% difference in price between the dealer in Texas, and Pete in Virginia is minimal at best, both offer great prices compared to everyone else, including Lad when they send you their literature for renewing.

If Texas is easier or closer to you, I highly recommend them,  I also very highly recommend Ultimate in Richmond, as Pete has been offering this reduced price to us for a very long time, I think the Texas dealer was told about Pete's pricing, and found the reality in offering it also, as the time involved in filing a simple form, is so minimal and the benefits of showing Kaw good numbers for warranty sales far surpasses the need for price gouging, its kinda a no brainer for them both.

Either dealer gets major kudos for supporting us on these,  :great: :great:

When I spoke with Pete about the price going up a couple years ago, he told me it wasn't really his choice, and that the "program" cost did go up slightly when it changed from GTPP to KPP, he said he riased the price to cover the increase, but maintained he same profit (which I think was $20 for filing)

Best of luck to all, and either way, its affordable protection  :beerchug:

Thanks MOB.

Given his comittment to the community, Ill give Pete first dibs.  :)

Also:
i KNOW this has been discussed ad nauseum in the past, but I can't read over 13 pages of posts to find the answer.  :truce:

What implications to the factory warranty do modifications present??
I have a modded zx14 dual exhaust and currently running steves' decel flash.

My typical understanding is, that if the mod can't be PROVEN to cause the issue, then most shops will honor the warranty.
I would equate this to, if a rear seal fails on the Drive, none of my mods would be directly related to THAT failure, and would likely be covered.

If I grenaded the Engine on overrun, or ingested a valve from overheating or poor mixture (unlikely, I know) that might be a different situation.

I'd ask now (if anyone cares to answer) what are the more commom warranty claims on this bike, that we know of??
I've seen several, such as brakes warping, rear drive seal, and a few others that I would consider to be non-engine related warranty claims.

Thoughts and input appreciated.

Thanks as always guys.

GR,
The Magnussen/Moss act spelled it all out. Any failure under warranty is covered unless that failure can be DIRECTLY proven to be caused by a modification from the original configuration. All the warranty claim stuff I know of is external to the engine with the exception on a few '10 models puking tranny gear teeth and jamming up the works.
Popular warranty items are front rotors and windshield mechanisms, Tire pressure sensors, a couple final drive leaks also. not really much in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks Matt.
That's all on par with what I remember and expect.
And yet again, a $400 ($133 per year)will easily pay for any one of those known maladies,
should one crop-up in the next few years.
The only thing that I can think of that is wrong with my bike now with just over 15k miles, is the Cam Sensor o-ring is weeping.
Tried to replace it last year, but couldn't get the replacement that MOB sent me to fit in the hole (that's what SHE said).

Knock on wood, no other issues thus far.
Mobil1 20/50 Full syn, and Final Drive dump at every oil change.
What a great bike.
Not sorry I didn't spend 2x the money to buy a BMW.  :nananana:

***Update****
I pulled the trigger on the 3 year ext thru Ultimate. Should have papers from Kawi in a week.
I figure if nothing else, it will pay for all the little things that tend to break long before the motor will!
Thanks to all for the input and advice.

Just purchased an extra 3 years for my bike from the guys in Irving TX.  Seem like really nice guys to me over the phone.  It was a very quick and easy process and they even send an e-mail confirmation for the transaction.  The final price was $370 dollars which is negligible between the two venders offering the extended warranty.  With that being said, your free to make your choice as I am sure both are great people.

Just purchased warranty #3 that will take me to 9 years.   Haven't had a single issue so far, but still a no-brainer for a C-14 with over 50K miles and now covered until 2020.   :beerchug:

Yep, just re-upped mine as well.  It took longer for the guy who answered the phone to track Adrian down than it did to make the purchase.

The quoted rate was different than the $370 above, but if you ask nicely he'll do it for $370.

I received my paperwork after only a few days, so thanks Pete at Ultimate Cycle!  $383.00.  This is my second renewal, and I noticed that it is now called "Kawasaki Protection Plus"  Apologies if this was discussed before, but I see that the program now includes Emergency Road Side service.  I don't recall seeing that offer on the last program?

For those of you in the Md area,
Heyser Cycles in Laurel has agreed to match the pricing for the warranty extensions through Kawi as well. I have been dealing with them for several years now and they have always taken good care of me as a customer. I will be getting my second extension through them. (already had the first on it when I got the bike).

I emailed Ultimate Cycle about the Roadside Emergency Service question, and here is the answer.............

Yes, Roadside is now included ! A plus for sure.

Seems to justify the price jump when the name of the program changed.

For those who purchased from Pete..Did you have to sign, and send the paperwork back ? We got our contract today which was a renew on a transfer from the original owner. It doesnt say anything, but I wanted to make sure we are good to go. I left a message, just wanted to make sure we are good to go.

I wasn't sure about sending the paperwork back, and note that there was nothing to sign with the old style agreement.  I signed it, scanned it, and emailed it back anyway, but not sure it was necessary.  I'm thinking if it was absolutely necessary, there would be a note to do it.

I received two envelopes.  The one from Kawasaki had the registration card. The fat envelope from Ultimate had the Kawasaki Protection Plus contract with the "initial this" sections and signature part.  HTH.

Early last week contacted Pete inquired about the extended warranty, e mailed the required data, payment made and in couple days rec'd the agreement.  This week rec'd the wallet card from Kawasaki showing the extended warranty is in in force until 2020.
Very smooth hassle free deal and glad I did it since I plan on keeping the bike for quite a while.  Would mention that you get the road side assistance program with this deal, a plus.

I cannot confirm Pete can write this deal for Florida residents, just saying, as it was an issue in the past... so ....... disscuss it.

What's to talk about?  I bought the extension and got the receipt and new card in the mail.

If there is an issue it's with the Floriduh AG office and Bondie is too busy sucking up to Trump to mess with me. I'm sure MaKaw doesn't really care as it's a Floriduh thing.

I have a 100% beneficial and mostly positive experience with extended warranty claims. I barely made it in time by getting the warranty purchased as the factory warranty ran out. In late June of 2015 my bike was in for a broken windshield motor. The dealer told me the bad news that my warranty was expired and it would be out of pocket expense. I asked about the date of expiration on the warranty and they couldn't really give me a good answer. I knew my warranty started in June of 2012.

That's when I got on the COG and looked up the article for extended warranty and the PHONE NUMBER. I called immediately to extend the warranty. Success! Meanwhile - The parts were ordered by the dealer from Kawa and took a few weeks to arrive. When the parts came in I checked with the dealer regarding my warranty. They were surprised to find out I had somehow slipped in and acquired an extended warranty. They asked me how that happened and I told them I called and bought an extended warranty and they said, WHY DIDN'T YOU LET US SELL YOU.. wait... never mind.

Since then I've never had a claim turned down for any reason. I have 50,000 miles on the clock now on a '12 C14.

Here are the items I remember I've had fixed under the extended warranty:

1. Windshield Motor
2. Front Rotors
3. Tire Pressure Monitors - 4 separate times
4. Oil leak from cam sensor
5. Oil leak from valve cover
6. Fork seals - this got me a whole fork rebuild last month April 2017 - reset the sag and everything

I am super courteous and hold my tongue with the dealer. Even bring a word of encouragement to the understaffed and overworked shop. Techs are hard to keep around here. Good techs are impossible to keep. If you have one good man you are golden. This dealer has one.
A few times I've gotten free tire mounting because I've brought in new tires during the other repairs that required tire removal. This comes as a small benefit for the incredibly slow turn around for getting the bike repaired. Never less than a week. Many times 3-4 weeks. This is the reason I decided to get a second bike so I'm always ready to ride. Many of you are shaking your head and thinking why don't you just do your own wrenching? I do a tiny bit like regular maintenance and farkling. But the warranty stuff and tires? I just like to ride!

Yes, I wish Fred Harmon lived next door instead of the other side of Texas. Yes, I need Steve in Sunny Florida to move into my neighborhood. But since that ain't likely we just need to work it out with the local assets and the available warranty coverage.

I meet COG people and riders who can do seemingly everything to their bikes. I'm jealous. But I just like to RIDE. I emailed SISF about working over my 2005 C10 this fall. I'm thinking about letting him do ALL of his SHOODABEN magic on my classic touring machine. After that it may be time for some work on the ECU on the C14?

See you on the road...

A moderator will be along to fix it. I agree it's somewhat of a pain not to be able to edit your older messages. On the other hand, every time I ask a moderator to edit an older message they are quick to do it. That new price is what I paid for my second and last possible warranty good to July 2020.  That is amazing for the price. I should point out, I never needed it (yet) since the C-14 is bulletproof....and where is the knocking on wood emoji anyway?

Just renewed my warranty for another 3 years, the price just went up beginning the 6th of June.
It is still quite a bargain, under 400 for 3 more years.
I realized as I was renewing it that I have kept this 2011 C14 bike longer than any other bike I have ever had and still love to ride it even though I have 3 other bikes that are newer, which is quite a testament  for the C14.
I can't wait for an updated version with more power, cruise control and better electronics.

And I extended my 2011 (CA) warranty on August 3 with Pete at Ultimate Cycle in VA for another three years for $393.

He said the price just went up again. I was already in the Ultimate Cycle system, this is my second extension with them.
All paperwork (from Ultimate Cycle & from Kawasaki) in hand within a week. Good service.

3 days ago I renewed my 3 year Kawa PP on my 2012 C14 for $345.00 with Phil at Kawasaki City in Irving. Nothing like having a Factory warranty. At first, when I checked to verify coverage was in place on the Mykawasaki.com site (owner center), it wouldn't show. I called Kawasaki and they had me remove my bike and then re-add it using the VIN. Worked like a charm and all the coverage showed up. Be Safe.

depends on when it was sold as new from dealer, as in first titled... maybe, if it sat in a showroom for a couple years..

an 09 with OEM warrenty, sold in 09, would have had to been renewed every three years, and only two renewals would be allowed...
so, 09 thru 12, 12 thru15, and 15 thru 17... if they were stacked...
no lapses could have been allowed...

so if it was sold prior to 10/ 2012, as a new bike, basically its a no go.
sorry

I currently have an extended warranty good out to 2020.  If I extend it a further 3 years, that takes it out to 2023 and costs $686 according to the website.  Does this sound right?  Would I get a different price if I went to through the dealer?

Yeah going through the dealer is way cheaper which what I did for the 3 year extension. Now the website shows only 1 year extension option left.
