highway pegs & cages on my 2009
« on: May 02, 2016, 11:47:41 pm »
This came up on another thread and I thought I would ask this question in a new thread. I have a 2009 Concours ABS and recently installed cages & highway pegs. I really hate the way the pegs stick out when folded up so wondering if anyone has a solution.

Can you rotate the peg mount so they fold back instead of up and tuck between the two parallel bars? Or do they have to be up to support any weight?  I've got an 08 that I need to mount hi-way pegs so I'm thinking about how to do it but haven't gotten going on it yet.

Moving the mount down to the lower rail helped and it is also more comfortable. I can now rotate the peg to be parallel to the side rails when folded up. It still sticks out too far and need to find or make an off set bracket like the crude one pictured. This will pull it inward to tuck in better. I'll also remove the height adjustment screw since  Its already out all the way. Go ahead and click to enlarge if you want. I delete the PhotoBucket links imbedded in the IMG links. I hate that!

Is it difficult to fold them down with your foot while riding? Seems like if you tuck them in more, it will be that much harder to get them down while riding.

I think the main problem is going to be getting your boot on the peg and clearing the cage. I have mine mounted a little bit more out and my boot rests on the canyon cage and can just get on the peg. It is a angle thing.

Thats a great point and I don't know the answer. I an still in the test mounting stage just to get to look right. I'm going to see if mounting on the lower rail will work out for both looks and ease of use with my existing brackets.

Yep...
need to live with the brackets as I have them now first before modifying.
