How long does your ABS light stay on?
« on: March 28, 2017, 05:24:42 pm »
I've noticed lately that my ABS light stays on for about a minute or so after the bike is started up and running.

This is my first bike with an ABS system so I'm defaulting to car ABS systems and how they typically behave. Usually, in a car, the ABS light will stay on for a longer period of time if there is something wrong with the ABS system.

Is this the same thing with the C14 ABS system, does the light stay on longer if something is wrong?

I usually don't worry about the light unless it comes on when riding. I didn't time how long it stayed on before I take off, as it's usually under 1 minute. Once the bike has gone about 20 feet, everything on the display should be normal. The only reason the light is on at first is so YOU know the bulb isn't burned out! Hard to tell if something isn't working if the idiot light isn't working. :-[

Ok so my light is behaving normally then. Thanks guys. That light behaves a little differently than a car so it just had me wondering.

I wonder what the Owner's Manual says about it?

Mine says "get on the COG forum and talk to your friends when you have a question about your bike. Be social and interact with your fellow Concours owners. They are nice people and dont mind answering questions."  Your manual may or may not have that addendum..... ;)

No, mine must be an old version.   But anyway, how do you get air into them tyres if the hose connector isn't flexible.  I hear some folks have broken the valve stem right off the wheel when attempting to just add a bit of wind to it, then left stranded with a big problem.   :'(

But that's off topic.   :nananana:    ;D

Get a small portable Mini Moto Pump. I use one for trips and its flexible enough to get at the valve stems.

I'm sure it says a lot. If I HAD ONE, I would've happily checked.  :PDT_Armataz_01_37: on the suggestion though.  :bravo_2:

Nighthawk,  search the forum for "owners manual".

I think there might be a link somewhere to be able to download one free from Kawasaki.
