Engine Ice or "regular" coolant??
« on: September 03, 2011, 12:10:53 pm »
I have done a few searches but couldnt really find any solid info.  Is engine ice the way to go or is it basically the same as Aluma Cool and the other standard coolants.  I have also heard some good stuff about Hondaline coolants.  I'm gonna change mine in the next couple of weeks and i am wondering what i should go with.

Thanks all for the help!!

If "Engine Ice" is Propylene Glycol based instead of Ethylene Glycol based, I would stay away from it.  Propylene Glycol will cool better, but is much harder on rubber seals.

I have a car that someone put Propylene Glycol based coolant in because they were having overheating problems, and it leaked out in places I've never seen leak, like the O-rings of the heater core control valve, in addition to many of the hose clamp connections.  If they had just fixed the root problem, swapped spark plug wires, all would have been fine.

The C14 cooling system works just fine with regular anti-freeze / coolant, so I would save the money and just use the regular stuff.
