Kendall GT-1 / Brad Penn Oil
« on: December 04, 2017, 11:36:33 pm »
I was reading on the Suzuki GS Resources site and someone mentioned Kendall GT-1 green oil that is now called Brad Penn.  Not looking to hear about any other oils, just this one.  Any experienced opinions on this oil?

Its the only oil I use in the air cooled high performance VWs I build, don't know how it will work with a wet clutch system.

Should be ok if it is a 40 weight oil. Most energy conserving oils containing friction modifiers that would affect a wet clutch are 30 weight and under.

I was on that thread, small world.... PennGrade1 is Racing oil, and a damn fine one. I use it in my GS drag bike and have used it in other forms of racing. But I don't use it in my street bikes, I use Rotella T6. Penn has no oil ratings from JASO or SAE that suggest it is appropriate for long lasting street use. Race motors are rebuilt every few hundred miles at most and need the high (higher than the law allows for road use) levels of anti-wear additives. THe downside of those additives is abrasive ash and carbon. Do a search at bobistheoilguy.com for a LOT of information, and take it all with a grain of salt.
