Look what followed me home
« on: December 04, 2017, 01:35:24 am »
My son traded his Speed Triple for Jerry's C14.  This is officially the farthest I've gone to get a bike.  680 miles each way.  The old Roadmaster got quite the workout.  Got a refresher course in what truckers go through.  Atlanta and Nashville was a real treat!  Thanks to Jerry for the southern hospitality!

Looks good, congrats to your son. I know my boy wants to ride mine, but I think he is just a little scared he might like it too much and he will end up on an"old man's" bike, LOL

The bike is cool, but whats the story on the Roadmaster?  It appears to be in showroom condition.

Here, in Utah, they use salt on the roads, during the winter season. Most cars that are the roadmasters age  are are sitting in a junkyard, in several pieces.

I love my 14 in the silver color, but black is amazing.

I agree that the silver is faster, but when we say that, are we considering the kawasaki green pinstripe he has?  I think that might even the playing field?

Agreed.  That green stripe is pretty bitchin'.  (OMG. Speed Holes.  "We need more ammo. Let's go to Big-5.")

Well Ted, Bud (Nick)  is actually my son's nickname that I gave him when he was still sucking a bottle.  Bud (Nick) is actually the one that created this account on COG.  He wanted to do the 17" wheel upgrade on his 87 C10.  He also did the ZX9 front end upgrade so he created a COG account.  We got the clutch line and brake lines from Spiegler just recently and longer cables from Barnett.  We would have went with Murph and Motion Pro cables but with the 5 week turnaround on cables, we opted for Barnett.  Much faster from Barnett than Motion Pro.   He's never posted on here just me (Paul).  I never bothered to create an account of my own.  I have a 82 Suzuki GS1100GK and an 05 C10.  The C14 is Nick's aka Bud! lol  Are you confused yet? :rotflmao: :rotflmao: He said I can't ride it every day.  My response was how about every other day? :rotflmao: :rotflmao:  I always told him if that Speed Triple had a fairing, that he wouldn't be able to keep me off of it.  What is slowing me down on riding these days is I must have pinched a nerve somehow and have been dealing with pain in my right shoulder blade that comes and goes and what feels like something related to tennis elbow.  I bought one of the velcro bands that squeezes my upper forearm.  It helps but that arm is still being a biotch!  Just driving to Savannah and back was difficult.  Hope this crap passes somehow.  If not I'm gonna have to do something about it.  I live to ride!  And I know if Steve is reading this he is chuckling to himself.  You listening Steve?   :nananana: :nananana: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

The story on the Roadmaster is that I bought it from the original elderly owners in 2000.  It had 67,000 in it when I got it.  Paid $6200 for it.  It has mainly been used as a highway only car since I've had it.  It's spent most of it's life in a garage.  I've tried pretty hard to take care of it.  It's never had the heads off of the engine.  It had a transmission overhaul at maybe 140,000.  It has almost 208,000 miles on it since the trip to Savannah.  I probably won't ever part with it.  If that car could talk it could tell a few stories!  :-X

Hey Bob
It's a 2013.  It looks like you're a Suzuki guy!  I've owned a bunch of those.  My 83 GS1100E was blue....still miss that bike.  I've had a few 850's, a 1000E, a 750ES and the 1150ES.  Maybe one day I'll have another 1100E and 1150ES!  I just love the fairing with the huge round headlight of the 1150ES. :motonoises: :motonoises:

Well Paul my only advise for you is to have Cannon Cages installed ASAP.

The day that your shoulder decides to give you a pain at just the wrong moment and you can't hold the bike up
you will be thankful you had cages on.  Failure to install them will remove the word thankful from your talking about a tip-over.

There are plenty of people that have done a tip-over at low speed because the bike is top heavy and they didn't have
any shoulder pain to deal with.

That's just my 2 cents worth of advise that you didn't ask for - but at least you can't say - I never knew.........
