loud,shrill, jet engine noise
« on: October 15, 2018, 10:11:49 am »
:-\ I can't get used to it. I've come to the conclusion that this background jet sound is inherent to these beautiful machines and that some bikes are louder than others? I've heard some making similar whines on youtube. although its hard to tell how loud through their helmets. I did have a MC powersports guy ride it( not a connie guy). he thought it sounded like "a motorcycle".! Im coming off a 2004 R1150RT which was clunky shifting but quiet in general. when i wear my full helmet it minimizes shrill sound but my 1/2 helmet at low speeds really annoying. i like to cruise along the merrimack river at about 35 sometimes. my 2015 connie is magnificent in every aspect other than this annoying noise directly in line with RPM of engine and under load. does anyone think there might be a remedy to minimize? sounds almost like a bearing?high pitched  warbling noise at idleIDK  downhearted Jim

Try a different can. Most dump the stock exhaust anyway. We should all contribute them to an artist for some kind of sculpture.

maybe I'm just OCD nuts. i have a vance and hines Szone on there which i love. honestly when I'm getting on it i don't hear it its when I'm cruising slow. whine is more prevalent than exhaust cuz its right in front of me. exhaust sound goes out back. you get that loud whine on yours?

Is there another C14 rider in your area you can ride with and maybe swap bikes for comparison? Without starting another exhaust or oil thread, could be something else. Have you done valves? Checked your wheel bearings?

IDK
I should prolly take it to the kawi dealer and let them listen. honestly... I just don't trust them to give me an honest answer
all they see is $$ signs
I heard one recently at the train station parking lot and I noted it sounded similar to mine.
I ve put like 1500 miles on it in a month and a half. it runs the balls
I think I need to stop obsessing and relax

They all have a kind of whine, but it shouldn't be loud.
Perhaps the balancers are out of whack?
I wear earplugs so it may be louder without them.

Most? Yeah, no. Many perhaps.

Welcome Jim.

I too like to cruise along the Merrimack River, but my C14 doesn't float, so I do that in my boat.   What road are you referring to?  I'm in southern NH.  Where are you?

the bike sounds normal, ride it... don't become OCD about it... don't mess with the counterbalance as it's not needed on this bike, it won't make any difference

3 posts, need to be combined into one, repeated posts just make people read and answer 3 posts, about the same thing.
thanks in advance for not doing this repeatedly,
