Welcome :great:

For those of you using Mobil-1 15W/50 it is currently available at Walmart for $22.88 and at Amazon for $32.33 (free shipping) 5gal. jug.   If you buy the K&N filter with the nut like I do, shipping is free from Walmart. At that price who needs the rebate?

No friction modifiers, no "energy conserving" on the label.

Fyi, if you're out-n-about and find and O'Reilly Auto Parts closer than your Walmart or other preferred parts purchase location, I've found they will at least price-match another, if you show them the add (e.g, mobile pic).

I bought 2 gallons at Walmart, and submitted my rebate, and they sent me a check about 5 weeks later.

Nicole,

Which oil did you buy, or which did they have in stock? Curious as it was not in stock at several I visited, so I ordered online. I have ordered on line previously and they honored my rebate, even though not supposed to.

Thanks,
Doug

And to further Tundra's question:

I looked up the exclusionary (small print) on that rebate the last time it came around, and it did NOT include Walmart as a vendor.

I just bought another jug of the 15w-50 for my Aprilia, and wondering if I should just send it in anyway??

good post Tundra.   :great:

I ordered the Mobil One 0-20 at walmart, and even though Walmart wasnt listed as a vendor on the rebate list, i figured it was worth the samll effort to submit it anyways. Sure enough, they sent me an eCheck.

You live somewhere super cold? Don't these things want something closer to 15-40 in most climates? I figure to feed mine the steady diet of Rotella T4 all my other bikes get. Except the Fancy KDM, it gets Fuchs Pro4 unicorn blood. How touchy are forum mods here regarding oil threads?

They're not touchy about oil threads.  As long as folks behave properly it's all good.  With that said.  Oil has been debated thoroughly.  There should be all the oil talk one could stand already here. ;)

Re oil: since 2013 in 2 diff C10s and now a 2013 C14 I've used Rotella T6. I've used mostly Fram filters, frugal! When K&N filters are less than $10.00 I'll buy.  I'm a easy going rider occasionally going warp speed. Can't beat T6 for the cost and no oil issues in my bikes.

Getting ready to change oil in the C14 for a long hot ride to PA for the national.

What does the "T" mean? I see T4, T5, T6 decided to look and was confused. Also said diesel, is that correct or was at looking at the wrong stuff?

T4 = straight dino oil, T5 = dino & synthetic blend, T6 = full synthetic.  I don't know if the "T" stands for anything other than a product designation.

Produced for the diesel market and doesn't have the friction modifiers that screw up a motorcycle clutch. I'm not sure what oil the PO of my bike used but I changed to T6 and it shifts much "slicker" now. Used it in my Nomad 1600, too. Good stuff. Is it better than the other oils? I don't know but it works well for me.

It's hit or miss if the local WM will have it in stock so I start looking for it some time before an oil change. Sometimes they have it in 2 gallon jugs in addition to the one gallon. Either way, you're going to have 3 quarts left over for the next oil change.

I did the rebate thing about 3 months ago on my last oil change, so thought I'd slip one more in before it ended.  Now however, it's insisting I give them car year, make, and model.  I don't see where you can choose "motorcycle"... Has anyone else run into this?

Can't see where it would matter to you what is entered.  If they want a car, give them info for a car.  Pick one and move on.

With the way things are going today, I'm surprised it didn't tell you what you were riding and where you went the last time you rode it!

Just because it was mentioned.....this is the oil chart from the FSM.

15w-50 is well within specified temp/viscosity ranges for temperate climates, down to ) degrees F.

Factor in the lubricity of a Full Synthetic oil, and you can rest easy that the listed range of this oil will protect your engine properly in higher temp climates AND still be adequate for cold-start lubrication.
