New 2014 is now mine
« on: December 22, 2018, 01:41:46 am »
Yes, I picked up a brand new 2014 (red) then rode it 300 miles home with 55-40 temps. I like this bike. I can see a few farkles in the future but this girl is really good as she is.  Getting a killer deal on it was icing on the cake.

Wow!  Pretty amazing that there are 4 year old "new" bikes out there yet.  What kind of deal does 4 years on the showroom floor get ya?  Did they kiss you on the lips before you left?  I grew up in retail, so I see some humor in there somewhere.  When my dad bought a Western Auto store in 71, it had NOS pistons for a model A ford and a wide variety of arthur fulmer seat covers for lots of cars in the 50's just to name a couple.  We had a car dealer in town that was notorious for letting cars rot down before he'd drop the price enough to make a deal.  He's gone now and his widow died some years back.  Funny thing is that his house has been on the market for waaay too long because his sons are just like him.  Imagine that! :rotflmao: :rotflmao:.......but I digress.
Congrats on the new bike!  It's quite a fine machine to be sure.  My advice to you is to read the sticky about extending the factory warranty 3 years for around $370.  This is not an aftermarket warranty.  Check the price of an ABS pump and see if that gets your attention.  There are arguments for and against paying for additional warranty, but with the price of some of the parts, I think it's a good piece of mind thing.  Have read on here that it even paid for a new battery when one died.  Enjoy the bike!  Welcome to COG! :motonoises:

Congrats on the C14. She should put a smile on your face almost every time you sit on the saddle. Find a COG event in your area and meet with like thinking people.

When I called I didn't even ask what color it was until after I said I would take it.  I almost fell over when they said it was red.  :)

Congrats!!
First thing I would do is flush all the brake and clutch fluids and maybe coolant and oil change as well. Been sitting for awhile even though it is new.

Since I'm close to 500 miles I will be changing most of the fluids anyways.  What a sweet machine.
