New used bike with unknown flash
« on: April 12, 2017, 02:07:17 pm »
How do I tell what flash is in my 08 Concours? There doesn't appear to be any markings on the ECU?

whrami,
There is most likely not an aftermarket flash in it.  Both Guhl and SISF put a sticker on the ECU when they service it. I do not know of anyone else performing this service on the C14's.

I think Schnitz Racing has also been offering flashes for the C14 but I don't know if they put any sticker on the ECU or not.  I don't know a lot about it but it is inexpensive:

Yeah, Uh, NO!
Looked at their site. 75$ plus shipping gets you,
Limited Hard Acceleration by Restricting Secondary Throttle Blade Opening
Reduced Peak Power Output by Limited Ignition Timing and/or RPM
Top Speed Limit or High Gear RPM Limits
Nothing about drivability. Any changes to fuel mapping bumps price to 200 plus shipping and again no drivability improvements.

Unless you have paperwork showing the previous owner actually got a flash done I would safely say the ECU probably isn't even flashed. I haven't heard of a company or person (SISF) that performs flashes without putting some type of sticker or marking on the ECU signifying that the ECU is flashed.
