Oil Change Interval
« on: June 30, 2020, 03:05:27 am »
Am I reading the manual correctly that the oil change interval is 1 year or every 12k miles?  Never heard of that long before an oil change.

I’ve read threads where people are talking about as little as every 3500 miles.  Doesn’t make any sense to me...

Oil change interval for my 09 is 7500 miles. I change oil/filter at 3,000 with final drive every other at 6,000 miles. But that is just me. I know there are at least a few C14's with over 100k on the clock and still running just fine. (total mileage not oil change interval)

According to the Service Manual, 1 year or 12,000 km (7,500 miles).

Yup, I do oil & filter at 5k mile intervals simply because it's easier to remember.
If you use fully synth oil you can probably stretch it to 10k with no ill effects.
I use semi-synth 10W40 engine oil and do the final drive oil (80W90) every 10k miles.

Same here, every 5k miles. I also do the final drive every 5k because of the heat here.

 :great:
I'm pretty much in the same mindset today..on my '08.... last year I went to full synth, Castrol 4T racing oil, and a new filter.. I always did my changeouts around 7500 miles prior, with the synth, I will now do them around 10k as the oil is so superior now.(and I wouldn't panic running a couple K miles over that limit..) As for rear case, that's always been a 12k service, usually done every other time I put a new tire on, which normally only lasts me, the way I ride, about 5-6k miles each.. ymmv.. and I clean and regrease (my rear hub splines, sparingly) at that point.

Got it, 12,000 KM = 7500 miles.  Makes sense now
