What is leaking?
« on: May 27, 2020, 01:35:32 am »
2012 Concours. After a hard, fast 550 mile ride Saturday there was a weep of oil and later one drop on the floor.
Where do I start looking for the source? Any help is appreciated.

OK, I can't attach the picture.
On the lower side of the driveshaft, just below the bellows, there is the low point that appears to be a pivot point with a black cap. That is  where the leak appears.
Ideas?
Thanks.

Probably the exhaust cam sensor or the valve cover. Have you looked at the fairing on the left side bottom? If you have oily spooge down there the sensor or valve cover are the likely source. MOB came up with a larger o-ring to take care of exhaust cam sensor leak. That's where mine was. I fixed it when I did the valves.

From your description, you are talking about the area around the final drive unit?

You can take off the rear wheel, and then take out the top bolt and pivot the final drive unit down, and take a look at the front of the unit and see if the oil seal is leaking there.  Not sure how difficult a job it is to replace that one. I think there is a thread on here that describes how to do that.
