Recent return from Korea
« on: September 03, 2017, 02:05:24 pm »
Hello fellow COGGER's!  Well after spending the last four years in Korea I have finally come back stateside and looking forward to meeting up again with fellow riders whether it be on a Concours or not.  Korea was an interesting place to do some riding and have enjoyed traveling throughout but have missed riding in the US.  Korea can be a very dangerous place to ride. :-\  I have missed the camaraderie with this group and looking forward to meeting up with members!   :great:

I've just renewed my membership again and looking forward to the Rally next June in Texas.

Sadly I am no longer on the East Coast though as before but now located in the South West in the lovely Fort Huachuca Mountains Way down South in Arizona.  My family and I are excited in being here as this is a part of the country neither of us have ever been to but have always wanted to visit.  My military career is starting to wind down and hoping to retire from this location and move into the civilian world once again.   :).  This might end up being home.

Any Coggers at my location?  Found a potential new member that I'm am trying to convince to join up.
Stay Safe out there! :))

Welcome home Mike! Thank you for serving. I'm in No. Cent. Calif. but have been through your neck of the woods (desert/scrub lands). Don't suppose there's any chance you can make the trip to Provo, UT that's coming up in a couple of weeks?

Michael,

Thank you, good to be back home.  I was looking at trying to swing Provo, UT but don't think I'll be able to make it.  I am still waiting on Alaska Tags to come in the mail.  >:(

Right now the bike is in pieces in the garage while I'm adding a new power management system, additional brake lights and hard wiring in my GPS.  I hope to be fully up and running by the end of this month.

Welcome Home Mike and thank you for your service  :beerchug: Also welcome to The Great South West (I'm kinda biased). Look for a meet and greet coming up in Prescott in November. Great group of folks in the AZ area and some surprisingly decent riding down there too with some tremendous history.

Welcome to Arizona.  I live in Sierra vista also, we have a very good dealership Sierra Cycle on Fry Blvd, just go out the main gate head east and it is directly across the street.  Hope to see you out and about soon.

Thank you Mark.  The family is supposed to be flying out on 11 November to take care of Mom-in law as she is having hip replacement surgery.  I may have to take them to the airport that day but too soon to say yet.  The good news with that though is I'll be a batchelor for the next few months after 11 November while wife and kiddo are playing nurse.  I plan on catching up on some riding between college classes and hopefully meeting up with other riders.   :))

I'll keep you posted as the Prescott trip approaches!  Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Thanks Milton, I stopped by the dealership the other day but did not feel very welcomed when i stopped in.  Maybe it was just a bad day and or staff were short that day.  Looking to do a valve adjustment soon as I am getting closer to 15k on this bike.  How do you like the service department there?   :??:

My family and I were a bit surprised with how nice the Sierra Vista area is.   :great:  The mountains are just beautiful and we are thankful for the lack of humidity here, Korea was miserably muggy and hot.   >:(  We love it here thus far and considering this as maybe the final tour unless the Army sees fit to promote me more.

I'll PM you my number once i pick up a phone here in the next few days or so.  Once I'm up and running I'll hit you up to maybe doing some riding.  Looking forward to meeting and riding soon.

God Bless,
Michael

Welcome home. I spent 13 months in Korea on a mountain top, Palgonsan. Just outside
Taugu (old name) I enjoyed the time and the mountain people. Spent time wondering
the southern part of the country. Army had it a bit harder, most of you did not have a
chance to get out of the larger cities. I was Air Force on a remote radar site.
Thanks for your service. If I can make it I will look forward to meeting next year at National.

What little traveling around Korea I was able to do was really beautiful minus of course the air pollution.  Air quality was really bad there especially when the yellow dust from China would move in.  :( The operational tempo for me in Korea was crazy and glad to be back in a more slower tempo environment.  Need to catch up on some more riding.   :motonoises:  My 2012 has very low miles on it.   Hope to see you at the Rally too!

Welcome home Michael and I also thank you for your service!

I lived in Wilcox about 100 years ago and that is where my love for riding dirt and mountains developed as a young teen.  Some of the most beautiful country around IMHO.  Haven't been there in a long time but would love to return sometime.  May just have to make a point of it.  Anyway, again, welcome home.  I hope you enjoy living in Arizona.  Hot?  Yes, but it's a dry heat.  ~duck~   :beerchug:

Thanks Rev!  Glad to be back and love the weather out here.  Seriously considering picking up a used dirt bike for this area.  Need to go off road sometime, looks like fun here! :))

I drive thru these towns every Saturday in my big rig. I do a weekly round trip from Nashville, TN to Nogales, AZ. I see C14 almost every week on AZ-82.   :great:

Ted,  :rotflmao: I know you meant Southwest but the guys in the Southeast are a great group of folks as well!   :)

I'm still in the Military, just hit 13 years in the Army.  20 years is slowly creeping up.   :great:  looking forward to retiring from Active duty.  This could end up being my last duty assignment since this is more considered a special assignment.

Looking forward to linking up in Texas next year.  Stay safe and God Bless! :))

Welcome back stateside! I spent 4 years in Korea at Osan. I loved riding there and it took me a while to get used to having to obey traffic laws on a motorcycle when I got back. Haha.  :great:
