Removing rear tire with no center stand
« on: June 20, 2017, 12:24:36 am »
A couple of months ago, I purchased a 2012 Concours with 3900 miles. The rear tire was worn so I replaced both, got a good deal on a pair from Cycle Gear. The bike is a little tall for me, so I purchased lowering links and an adjustable kickstand from Soupy's. Now, I'm wondering how one pulls the rear tire for replacement with no center stand. Before I install the links, I would appreciate some insight from someone that maybe has dealt with this issue. I'm 66 and the balance ain't what it used to be.

I bought Pitbull track stands for mine, front and rear.  Makes DIY work much easier.

Sounds like another trip to Cycle Gear.
Thanks, Tex.

Sounds like he is removing the stand to lower the rear. Can you use a Pitbull type stand with these, and remove the wheel? I need to lift the front on mine to troubleshoot the pulsing front brakes.

Pitbull Hybrid Head Lift with #27 pin lifts the front of the C14 (with the oem centerstand installed).
Remove both wheels and forks with this one stand.

I like it! Wasn't aware of the hybrid lift.
Soupy's links wont work with center stand.

I have a C14 that was lowered by previous owner and fits me better. I get the bike on a 1" wood and then use the center stand but after looking at the Pit Bull Hybrid Headlift Stand I might go get them...

I'm on the road and trying to mentally picture the Pit Bull under the rear of the Connie. Got any pics, Gerry?
